Boyfriend has to be the catchiest (yet not repetitive) song ever! It totally reminds me of the '90s. It totally has the feel. I love it (probably my fave from this mini). I've been replaying it non-stop. The beginning's kinda suggestive though lol.
Girlfriend totally reminds me of anime OSTs. With that said, I love it as well (totally brings back childhood memories). Very cool and catchy.
My Child's a cool song.
One Year Later's pretty good as well. The song itself is just decent but Sica and Onew's vocals really make it into something else. I'm hoping for a live of this.

its a great song, love the chorus! very catchy and the beat is sick
My Child is soooo amazing! its my favourite.
I love the background vocals "bum bum bum badabada bum" "wikikiwikibum"
sounds like an old classical song in the "song of music" soo awesome
but more present of course
and Sica's song is soo great! I love her angelic soft voice

I feel like each song is so different from each other and it shows great diversity in the songs.
There are up-beat catchy songs and there are also great ballads in it. The girls did a great
job on this mini album, and I'm really satisfied with it. : ]

But on a side note, the 2nd Mini-album's pre-order numbers are at 80,000+ right now, which means rofl we'll see them having yet another 100,000+ album extremely soon. Starting trends, breaking records, it's just like any other comeback season for SNSD, right?
New interview with the girls, Maknae is just too cute for words sometimes, I like their answers for what they would be if they weren't in SNSD, it matches them all like perfectly. (YulTi <3)

The girls talk about how their new image is not "sexy" but rather "mature" and I agree with that. On stage SNSD is completely different than Off stage SNSD as well haha from professional to complete dorks!

It was because the refreshing and cute 'national younger sisters' So Nyuh Shi Dae has shown a 180 degree change in their appearance. However the So Nyuh Shi Dae that I got to meet still had their pure and youthful personality. They were 'girls' in everything they did, from joking with one another or laughing at a bug flying across the room.
Heated response to the online release of 2nd Mini Album
Complete transformation from the 'national younger sisters'
"Sexy isn't really a word that fits us. Even thought we have become a bit more mature than we have been. If 'Gee' was a song that was sung by a 20 year old girl, you can think of 'Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)' as a song that a 21 year old girl sings."
'Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)' is a song that has a mystical intro and a refreshing chorus that fits So Nyuh Shi Dae's image perfectly. There is an adult like feel in the melody, but if one listens to the lyrics 'Tell me your wish! Tell me the small dream in your heart! Picture your perfect love in your mind, then look at me' they can really feel as if the young girls are secretly whispering their dreams to each other.
"That's right! The bright choreography and outfits match our concept perfectly. Putting on thick makeup and wearing high heels to act like adults doesn't go well with So Nyuh Shi Dae. So we think that this song is perfect for our current age. It's a song that matches girls that are moving on to the age of an adult. You will be able to feel what we're saying when you see us singing the song. (chuckle)"
One and a half years since debut... Worried about their image as they age
Doing their best to provide a youthful and girl-like performance
The girls that have debuted for almost one and a half years now have a new problem that 'does not really fit them'. The problem is aging. Taeyeon who was constantly playing around with the So Nyuh Shi Dae's 1st album during the interview stated, "It is a bit sad to see us growing out of our youth". Sooyoung and Yoona also nodded their head in agreement to this statement.
"We always say things like 'This was the good times' when we look at our 1st album. We really looked youthful back then. Sometimes we are worried that we might not be called the 'national younger sisters' as we grow up."
So they want to really show their 'girlishness' through passionate performances before it's too late. They are giving it their all for the performances that can not be done if not done now. They aren't greedy for songs that make them seem mature. It's because they will naturally move on to more mature songs as time passes.
"We each have different preferences in our music. However we are not interested in singing songs that we enjoy singing or listening to. Because we can't sing our girlish songs if we don't sing them now."
In So Nyuh Shi Dae that includes girls that range from 18 to 21 in age, there is an unusual 'mother inlaw'. And that is none other than the maknae, Seohyun. She cares for what each ones of the unnies eat, how they exercise as well as what they wear, she is always caring for their health. When all the other members pointed to Seohyun as 'So Nyuh Shi Dae's teacher', Seohyun shook her head and blushed.
"Tiffany really likes coffee but she is always telling her to stop drinking coffee because it is unhealthy for her. When she sees other members eating junk food, she stares with a worried expression and tells them to stop eating them. Saying that we will die at an early age if we eat things like that. She is the 'teacher of So Nyuh Shi Dae'. (chuckle)"

▶ What would everyone be if So Nyuh Shi Dae weren't singers?

Taeyeon: An announcer. I always had a dream of becoming an announcer. I'm always jealous of the MBC announcers that I see while I DJ.
Sooyoung: An actress. I have filmed a movie and I like the diverse life of an actress.
Hyoyeon: A fashion designer. I'm interested in sketching in pen, enough to go around collecting different types of pens.
Jessica: I would probably have been doing a job related to fashion. Either a shoe designer or brand manager?
Seohyun: A voice actress. I can speak in many different voices. I'm good at imitating others too.

Yoona: A chef. I'm not that good at cooking but I really enjoy it.
Sunny: A business woman. I enjoy reading and studying. Don't you think that I could have been a young CEO?
Tiffany & Yuri: I'd be a singer even if I die!

From Gee the only song i didn't like was LTAL. Destiny was an ok one for me. Hated it at first, but it grew on me.
Gee, HimNae, Dear Mom were total win from the beginning.
from Genie.. so far, the ones i really really like are Genie & One Year Later. Etude & Girlfriend are growing on me.
Etude thanks to the performances and Gf is just.. funny? lol it's so anime-ish. i like it but idk. it's just ok..
Boyfriend is pretty catchy. Not a fave one yet though.
My Child.. is so.. disney-like? idk. it's average. cute and all but not memorable.
idk. i won't say i'm disappointed it's just that.. aish idek. lol i guess i'll just go listen to them more..

Tbh, I was rather disappointed with the Gee mini the first time I heard it. Like Dear Mom was such an average ballad to me, Destiny was weird and LTAL was lacking but after listening to LTAL and Dear Mom more, I started to love them. Not that fond of Destiny still though..
Anyway, the second mini album.
Aside from Genie and Etude which I love, I really love Boyfriend. I don't know why, it's old school-ish but for some reason I really like this song. I love the "rap" too. Girlfriend is alright, I think I'll like it after some more listens. I adore Sunny's voice on this track though. It's amazing.
My Child is really....odd. I don't think this song will ever grow on me. I love the cute little harmonizing in the second verse but the whole song is just so "wtf?" to me. Idk. The duet is lovely, Jessica's high note was great but I felt it was a bit boring in some parts?
One thing that I like about the two past mini albums is that there's alot of variety. None of the songs in both minis sound the same, they're all different. A thing I liked about the Genie mini album is that Sunny, Seohyun and Tiffany have alot more adlibs and high notes unlike before where everything was dumped onto Jessica and Taeyeon.
Anyway, I'm not disappointed with this mini album but I do wish some of the songs would be a bit better :S

but some people.. some people can be so friggin' rude and ugh *crying.
i'm tired of seeing people saying "why can't the english speakers from the group correct the engrish lyrics" for Genie.
and now that they listened to Boyfriend, "why can't the english speakers from the group say something about the lyrics"
"Give it to me...
So many boys want to give it to me,
But I want you boy to give it to me,
'Cause I'm so ready give it to me."
i'm not gonna lie. those lines are very ~ suggestive, imo.
but it's so not necessary to be all "This song makes me ashamed. Jessica and Tiffany both are American born English-speaking kids. And no woman with morals would go about singing this kind of stuff." T____T
i mean. hellooo it's not like the girls can do anything about the lyrics? like i bet you if they tried to do something and correct the lyrics, people over there would be all like "they're so rude to be correcting their senior's english" or wtvr. sighhhhh.

the lyrics obviously can't be blamed on snsd, and sometimes I wish sm would hire a better lyricist. -___- The amount of strange English lyrics I've heard from sm artists is astonishing lol

Right now, I must admit I'm disappointed...I probably had too much expectation after the awesomess of Gee.
I seriously hope the songs will grow on me because now, I only like Genie, Boyfriend and 1 year later and that's sad...because I usually love 99% of the girls' songs.
Maybe I shouldnt have taken it too seriously, it's a summer album so maybe they want to give a light feeling or wth. I guess I'm disappointed that there is no true evolution in their music...I just dont understand how we can take a step forward with Genie and Boyfriend but then take 3 backwards with Etude, My child and Girlfriend.
I'll be honest and say that I went O.O while listening to My Child...i just dont get that song...is it a kind of children song? not nursery but close to...
as much as I LOVE SM after the song selection in Gee, I feel like they werent much thoughts for Genie...like they just throw a bunch of songs tgt and release them to make money. Aish...I dont know...that's like my raw feelings right now...I have and should listen to these songs again and again because I just love these girls and I want to love their songs too.
On a positive note, the girls ad-libs are WOW and I'm happy to hear more of Sica and Fany. Also Sunny get lot of lines which is awesome.
