gaah..i feel so stupid x.x"
but it happened may 8th
and..all i can do for now is just sit tight til the 22nd...

i called my bank and the local department that day soon after i found out i was scammed..
anything else i should do? mellow.gif

did u guys get scammed? what happened to you guys?
did you have to pay like a butt load of money? >.<""

im a wells fargo user..
and..apparently..the "fraud money" i was supposed to spend on some accouting software didnt go through..
so the fraud department told me for now im "safe"- im not in debt to the bank or anything since it didnt go through so technically i didnt "spend" the money thats not mine..

but im scared i might get sued or something cuz the money the scammer used came from another wells fargo customer..>.<"

gaah..

I've almost been scammed. I immediately went to the bank, explained what happened, closed my account and opened a new one.

So how exactly did you get scammed? Kinda don't follow your situation.. Someone sent you money to buy some accounting software? huh.gif

Don't worry about using your new account. They won't be able to get it and seeing as I am an extremely paranoid person, and this happened online, i'd scan your computer for anything suspicious just in case. That's just me though. I'm just THAT paranoid. Lol.

I've had something like that happen to me before except I had my cards stolen and someone went on a gas shopping spree. They had to wait for the charges to go through and kept it open to investigate. Then, they sent me something in the mail asking me to tell them exactly what happened. I use BofA so i'm not sure how Wells Fargo does it. I don't see how they would find you responsible. I'm assuming you did this from a website? Maybe you can provide a link or some information on the person you were having this transaction with. Get as much possible evidence as possible just in case. I had a police report filed after I had my belongings stolen but I don't think you can really do that in your case.

The 2nd time I was almost scammed through the phone, I called BofA and gave them the phone number of the people so that they could speak to them but it was always miraculously busy. I changed my bank account and I also reported them to the FTC. Rofl.

I've actually ended up having to close and re-open my bank account quite a few times now. sleep.gif I was just that gullible.

I haven't been scanned but when I travelled to various countries over the years I notice that there are some fradulent credit card transactions.

It is easily reversed once I lodge in an investigation with my credit card companies.

I expected this though, because I use my cards quite frequently when I travel.

Thankfully, I haven't been scammed.
I am very anal with buying / paying for stuff online.
If there were an option of paying it in person, I take that instead.

I havent been scammed as of yet, I always try and pay via secure ways just to be safe. Actually someone used my paypal account about 6 months ago for skype (which i had never heard of). I just contacted paypal and they were very good. Oh yeah also my credit card got used by someone buying flytes to packistan while i was in england. I got a letter from the back informing me that they thought there was something dodgy going on with my account stupid me just ignored it untill i got another one. They took £3500 from my card, got it back though.

I also recently sold my collection of dunnys to make some much needed cash, and one buyer took ages to pay, then complained he never recieved it....I personaly think he did, but i couldnt do anything about it and had to give him like £70 back.

OK so maybe i have been scammed haha.

Yeah, I've been scammed before. Got scammed by a friend a few years back on a business deal for two grand.. basically the kid didn't deliver on a contract, and refused to refund the deposit.. had gotten a more lucrative deal that needed all of his time. Not worth going through the courts (time, money, and energy), especially with the project being orchestrated, so I just cut him off, took my losses, and moved on.

The only time I've ever been scammed was when I was in first or second grade. My dad received a letter in the mail claiming that he won $1 million. It had his picture, job title, and about 10 pages worth of seemingly-legit info. It really looked well-done and probably cost a lot just to print. And all it asked for was an initial deposit of $10 in return for $1 million.

I tried to convince my parents to send in the money, but they adamantly refused. After about 2 hours of whining, they finally gave in and placed a check for $10 in the return envelope. I walked to the mailbox and dropped it in. I was so happy afterwards.

Looking back, my dad probably went back to the mailbox and tossed the envelope in the trash afterwards.

Last month, while I was studying for my exams, my roommate let some "salesman," into our apartment. I could hear them talking in the living room, but I thought she was just talking to a friend because of how friendly the conversation was. Then I heard "Would your roommate ever consider helping out?" and a "Let me ask her." My roommate came and knocked on my door and I mouthed a "What the john tesh?" to her because she let some stranger into our apartment and he was clearly a con. But I removed myself from my studies and stood to listen to this guy talk a lot of bull. He told me he was was going door to door, asking people to sponsor orphan children in third world countries and that if we wanted to sponsor, to fill in an application (full of private information and credit card number!) and he'd take it along with him. I made it obvious that I didn't trust him, but he took it as it being my want to sponsor a CHINESE child because I'm Asian. It was pretty offensive and he saw the look on my face. I asked him to leave us some information so we could make the decision alone, but he kept telling us that they didn't hand out pamphlets. Finally, I got him out of our apartment. If I wasn't home, I'm sure my roommate would have fallen for it. She's way too trusting and doesn't question people's motives.

So, no. I've never been scammed because I'm cynical and I don't trust anyone.
It's just the radio.

I've been scammed. I felt like an idiot after I had found out, but it's over now. I was scared that I would lose tons of money on my card so I told my parents but they understood and only told me to learn from my situation. I called the place back and it they did everything in their power to ignore my call (I was on the line, waiting for at least ten minutes)... but I finally got through to them, thank God.

This happened to my brother a few months ago. Don't feel silly, it can happen to anyone. Thankfully, it was easy to prove that he had been scammed and the bank gave him his money back once they had worked out what happened.

Hope things work out for you too!

Yes. I got my ATM Card stolen before, and all the money I saved in my bank account went down the drain.

But I filed a report and it was okay later on.

I might be a victim of fraud. I suspect that someone is using my debit card at this ATM location downtown withdrawing a number of small amounts per month out of my account. Apparently, it is kind of a big issue for downtown ATMs. I have to search my transaction receipts, which I always make an effort to keep, before they can do an investigation.

And I got scammed before when I bought seasons DVDs from this sketch bag who really looked like a decent guy. And other times too.

But it's alright in the end since thankfully I am bless to be in an okay financial condition. What goes around comes around. I shrug them off and learn to make better judgments next time.

I just let karma do its stuff.

I was a victim of identity theft once. It happened right after the news about all the stolen SS numbers at UCLA. My ebay and Paypal accounts were stolen, but luckily I was able to get all the money back.

yeah i got scammed once....
i work for my parents bar so i book the entertainment....well this one guy says he is from the howard stern show....captain janks....he had been calling my venue for over a month just to get booked...i have never heard of him before so i ask my friends if they had heard of him and they were like oh yeah he is the one that does crank calls on the howard stern show...they say he isn't that great but i am sure people will come out to see him....
well captain janks kept calling the bar and then somehow got a hold of my phone number....
and this is what he told me....that he was doing apperance for a small fee for his 25th anniversary as a crank caller and he would come and sign autographs and we would get TEN ad spot on the howard stern show and at the end of the night he would give out a free sirus satelite radio....i was all for it cause TEN spot on the howard stern show is big and then he was like oh but i need the apperance fee upfront...and he was like i charge $650...and that was when the flags went up...i was like there is no way i can pay u that much up front...and he was like "oh i have been burned too many times so i need it" so i was like how about i pay u $250 upfront and then after the gig i will pay u the rest..we get a contract made up and everything..and he agreed to it and we set a date up....when the date came he no showed and i called him....didn't pick up...so i kept on calling him until he finally gave me a call back and he was like oh my car broke down when i was getting there so lets set up another date....the date came and he no showed again...gave him a call no answer
fast foward to last month...i read in the local papers he has been scamming local clubs and bars and that he is in jail awaiting trial...so yeah thats my story

Yea, when I was an idiot freshman in college.
I got scammed through this one pyramid scheme plan where one person reaps the profit by having those underneath him find recruits of their own to work for them.
It was a telephone company if I remember correctly.
Cheers!!!
