Simple Pleasures . how do you find your calm in an increasingly technologic world?

For me, it is writing letters. The art of writing letters has been long gone, and I love having international penpals!
Texting and email are quite overrated and are sadly killing letter writing.
Another pleasure is sitting still and listening to the falling rain outside my window. I also enjoy standing at a high point (hill, top of a building, etc.) and feeling the cool spring breeze tousle my hair. During the summer, watching the beautiful sky experience the warm colors of a sunset is good too - I like how the surrounding buildings and vicinity absorb the colors of summer. Cooking your own food and enjoying it without any distractions (TV, reading, etc.) is nice too...
If any of you have seen the movie Le Fabuleux Destin D'amlie Poulain, you'll notice that the main character Amlie has some seemingly insignificant simple pleasures (like running her hands through a barrel of beans and skipping stones down by the creek), but I believe that the French have not yet lost their taste for the simple delights.
Finding time for these simple pleasures really defines the happiness of a person, in my opinion. How much depth can you extract from a text message or a hastily posted Facebook comment? This applies for all nations across the earth, since modernization is occurring everywhere.
Give me your thoughts and I'll compile a grand list of what Soompiers do to keep the zest, color and joie de vivre in life. ^ ^ The most important thing is that they're important to you.

Hmm... I know this one involves technology, but I love listening to soothing music sometimes and just contemplating life and little things.
I love listening to the rain, too, although I hate to be in it.
But the thing that I love most is just to sit outside on a nice day and just think about things and take in the wind.

i always smile whenever i have time to ride my bike and the wind is hitting my face or when i try to hold onto my hat so it doesn't fly away with the wind xD

Drawing, and doing homework relaxes me as well.
I also enjoy the sound of the rain falling.
But being outside, with an umbrella or not, and hearing the raindrops make me feel... peaceful.
Being on a hilltop and enjoying the view is something I do alot too.
Or simply looking at the sky, and the clouds make me happy~
Hearing or playing an instrument is just lovely as well!

I also like that feeling you get when you're sitting at a table all alone in a cafe, with a warm cup of coffee or some other refreshing beverage, and you just stare out the window and watch people pass.
Oh! And you know that crisp, sort of snapping sound you get when you're turning the pages of a new book? That's awesome as well.
And hopefully this doesn't come off as sounding nerdy, but I also love the sound of a pencil or pen, scratching over paper. It's just so ... purposeful? Like there's no doubt that there's something being created just then, whether it's art, or poetry, or just words. Your thoughts or emotions are being transferred to that paper, and it's just ... comforting.... aha I don't know. Don't mind me. (:

I like the smell of coffee. Its relaxing and I can always be at peace. *O*
Imagination. If I'm upset, I just pretend I'm in a fantasy world where everything is beautiful and perfect and I feel at peace.

Simple things like that.

During exams last month I was extremely stressed, and so I decided to take a short break and go bike riding. It calmed me down so much...
nothing beats cruising down a breezy lake front while listening to your favorite music.

just talkign to someone face to face like when it regards a fight. not to solve it over the net but face to face. over the net or something feels insincere at times

lying down in bed and just thinking
