Hi, I'm going to university next year, and I will most likely be needing a laptop with my schoolwork. I'm a movie watcher/music listener as well so a multimedia laptop is a plus as well. I recently eyed this laptop on bestbuy canada (I live in Canada) but just in case some of you are american. xD ...anyways...and I think that this laptop is very good.

4 gigs of ram
320 gb of space
I know that the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M is maybe lacking a little in graphics, but I'm not your typical guy that likes hardcore gaming.

I think that maybe the biggest cons about this laptop (in my opinion) is that it's 1.) Refurbished and 2.) No HDMI port.

here;s the page: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.a...=&langid=EN

What do you guys think? Should I get this? It's now $100 dollars off from the regular price. I remember clearly that it was only 50 bucks off last week. Now they're having this "summer" sale. Remember I'm mainly using this laptop only for multimedia/entertainment and university purposes.

Hope I can get some good feedback! (Please don't ramble on about how crappy the graphics card is, I don't care for gaming) smile.gif This sale ends on May 21st, 2009.

I wouldn't go for it simply because it has a 90 day warranty. You might say one year isn't necessary, but at 9 months my laptop's screen filled with dust and I had to send it in.

Canada doesn't quite have the same deals as we get in the us though :[

Well..setting the warranty issue aside?
I just want to know the value for the laptop and if it's a good price. =)

I don't know the canadian prices, I just generalize it as more expensive.

At 550, I think you can buy a new one if you look for a sale. Its decent nothing wrong with the specs but a $300 one with a $30 ram upgrade will feel the same. (disclaimer: I have had bad experiences with HP so I am more negative about the brand)

I make and sell (CAT-5E w/ RJ45 connectors) network cables for cheap! If you want to request a length of network cable, send me a PM or message me on AIM (see my profile), i can make both standard and crossover cables! All cables are tested to ensure they work before being sent out.

you should actually go down to the store and do all sorts of stuff with it like actually try to carry it etc and ask millions of questions.

I didnt realise how heavy my laptop was until i tried to bring it to school lol when i first bought it.

so they just restocked and now there are 103 in stock! Should I get it? With the coupon code I received in my email, it should be 529.99 CDN before taxes.

I say no. That HDD is only 5400RPM, standard nowadays is 7200. I would get a smaller HDD with a faster RPM. Yes that GPU is lacking a bit, it'll struggle on WoW and probably won't play some of the latest FPS games. Don't expect to have AA/AF on.

I have pretty high requirements, but maybe that's just me.
