Whatever you do, do NOT give more money to EA by buying items with REAL money.

Unless you're that desperate to spend $20 on a sofa.

Hahah I was so excited that I went out to the store afterschool and bought a copy.

I've installed it, but I have to hold off playing it until the weekend or something...because I have so much to do and I know FOR SURE that'd I'd get sidetracked lol.

Edit: NOOOOO MY VIDEO CARD DOESN'T WORK WITH TS3.

I hate how my computer is ancient lol sad.gif

Hey everyone!

I spent the last hour worrying about my computer's specs before I opened the game, and I found several things that may be useful to some people unsure of their computer's specs. I'm a noob and I just thought I'd share some things and tips that I learned in the last hour, in hopes that this helps some other computer noob.

I went to System Requirements Lab to see if The Sims 3 will work on it. Says it will for me, so hooray. Just a note that SRL may not be accurate and requires some add-on thing, which could potentially harm your computer. Okay, just a disclaimer so no one blames me if something goes wrong.

Also, if you're worried about your graphics card, check this Video card ranking list to see where yours ranks. I found this site while doing my research lol. To check what graphics card you have, go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Device Manager, and look for Display Adaptors.

As for Ram and processor, just right-click on My Computer and check the properties.

For the system requirements, just google.

Haven't run The Sims 3 yet but I hope that information helps!

Is it different from Sims 2? I was a sims fanatic when the first one came out. I kept uninstalling sims 2 so i never got around playing it much... from the website, it doesn't look that much different from the second sims.

really? well mine failed only one.. maybe it'll work on mine then. i hope haha!
i still dont know if i want this yet

i played the leaked version on my friends computer for only 10 minutes and stopped because i didnt want to spoil it
she forced me to play XD

but.. i dont like the way the sims characters look. they kind of look like the barbie cartoons ph34r.gif

For real. I played for days already and it's fine. A little slow when you drive to the market, visiting neighbors, etc. but everything else works just fine. I think the graphic isn't as good as it should be but it's not terrible either.

Yeah, I think sims 2 look better too with the high texture detail on. tongue.gif I turned on the texture detail in sims 3 and they still look blah. This was on my sister's computer by the way so it's not my laptop's fault.

Hmm...I've played the Sims 3 on my computer (with my new videocard...which was expensive...), and it's okay. I have more fun creating Sims and looking at Bella, Mortimer, and all the other characters from Sims 1 and 2 than actually playing. It is pretty cool that you can visit your neighbors inside their house and stuff =)

I think I prefer the Sims 3 to the Sims 2 just because of the visiting the neighbors/new look/seamless neighborhood thing. I still have to get used to the controls and new system.

So i bought the game on amazon the day before it came out... and then i checked to see if my laptop could handle it and it CAN'T! so sad sad.gif sad.gif it's like 2 and half years old and a dell ughh. i figured i'd install the game anyways but then i realized the game wouldn't be much fun for me until there were some Mods available! Sheesh so much anticipation that was killed in a quick sec.

I got The Sims 3 yesterday, I'm severely disappointed with the game with just about every aspect. (I've been playing the Sims for 8 years TS1, TS2)
No way in heck am I paying for some stupid furniture. And ohmygosh, we have VERY limited clothing, hair and make up...not worth the money you pay for it AT ALL.

Played the Sims 3 I don't see much of a difference in gameplay except a lot more features which is really interesting... Overall I like it been playing for a week or so got it early =) So yeah, it's fun, entertaining, and lot of things to do =) Sucks about the fact that when youg ot to work you cant actually see them working or whatever also the time it takes to do something it really bad =\

The clothing part really isn't so bad imo. You just have to take your time putting in all those colours and patterns. But for an original game that has just released and there hasn't been any customizations yet from MTS or anything, it's pretty good. I love how the moodlets and how complicated managing the Sims' lives are now. Before it was simple, but now it's a tad more difficult, so I like it. The different jobs you can get is a real plus too, as well as the traits and the different interactions you can do with other Sims.

The worst part of the game though, would yes, definitely be the gameplay. GOES BY SOOOO SLOW. I'm such an impatient person, and the speed level #3 is pretty much similar to speed level #2 in The Sims 2. I've got no patience in waiting so long for them to sleep and go to work. >___>

There are so many more things to do now too, and after a few days, you realize that with a full-time job, you've practically got no time to actually explore lol because you have to work on your skills and everything to get promoted. = =" The jobs are tougher too, imo, because everything seems more expensive than last time, and now you get paid by the hour. D:

Idk what others are saying about the graphics because I really like it. :3 Maybe it's because I'm on a HD monitor and I have a pretty decent graphics card or what, but yeah, the graphics are pretty good. smile.gif

I'm more eager to see what MTS people will come up for this though, haha.

P.S. You can move toilet paper rolls now! XDD; You can attach them to wherever you like on the walls. smile.gif

I'm a little annoyed because I'm probably one of the only people who bought it legally, yet it won't let me register my serial code onto the website! Grr! I had to call customer service and complain...I mean, the only reason why I bought this stupid game instead of downloading it is for the online access to their website! Well...to support them too...but it was mainly for the community...

Anyway...the gameplay was a little disappointing. I just got it yesterday and I'm already bored =/ I got the Sims 3 for my iPhone too...again, quite the disappointment.

I dunno...maybe I just can't have fun as much as I used to because I'm older now? Meh...

Pros:
- No loading time! Very fast gameplay!
- Seamless neighborhood! Which is kinda cool...you can control relationships a lot better.
- Body weight! Omg! I know it's not a big deal but I'm like obsessed with weight...so having the skinny-fat-muscular options made me really excited hehe. I could play around with body weight so much! Ahh! Definitely the BEST aspect of the game to me.
- Facial customization...mm...hot sims <3
- Age options...like...you can increase and decrease lifespan...it's really cool. You can have your sims live for just 25 days or even 950 days. Or infinitely lol.

Cons:
- There are more cons than pros sleep.gif; That is a con in itself.
- Not enough customization (or as much as I had anticipated)
- Limited hairstyles/clothing/furniture
- Seamless neighborhood is hard to get used to...and a little annoying too =/
- Boringggg >.< I got bored after like a day. Barely.
- You can't go inside community lots? Wtf??
- The music! I've hated the music since the Sims 2...I mean...what happened to the beautiful piano music? >.<
- Seamless neighborhood is a little annoying...
- Very flat. I can't describe it =/ There's just...not as much as there were in the first two base games (and that's excluding expansions!)

This is ridiculous.
I went out and bought Sims 3, and it shuts down after like... I dunno, there isn't a specific pattern.

I thought that only happened before because I downloaded it illegally before...
But apparently not.

I know a lot of people dislike this game compared to the Sims 2, but I actually enjoyed it. There's a couple things that irritate me - the speed of the game (somebody said that on Windows it runs faster, since on Mac it's a virtualization - give me a break. But, the speed for me isn't that bad as it seems to be for others) and the fact you can't go inside community lots. Oh, yeah, and the fact that the Sims faces all look like they sport a double chin.

It's out in Australia.

I was playing it today...eh, it's getting better. Think I might jumped the gun a little bit. :>
Cannot wait until the MTS crew bust out some awesome stuff for the game.

wow Rikayla your graphics card is really good. When i was playing Sims 2, I was seriously complaining about the graphics and many other things as well -.-
But then Sims 2 graphics seems to be way better than Sims 3 so I am not sure if it was the game, or my card.
Seeing your screen shots, I'm guessing it's my card? or both?
What settings did you set for your Sims 3 graphics?
