so I've always been "quick" with my responses and it's never been much of a problem. But for some reason, these days, I've been talking back and insulting my friends so much and I think it's starting to get to them.

for example: one of my friends...we'll call him Dan....has been losing alot of weight with tennis. and so my other friend.....Ted...asks him..
Ted: Dan, are you even eating these days?
Dan: yeah. i just had a big breakfast so I'm not hungry
Ted: what did you have?
Dan: I ate one bagel..
Ted: Wow. Just one? I could eat like 3 for each meal.
Me: It shows.

See? I'm being such a jerk to my friends. And for some reason, I'm being even more of a jerk especially towards "Ted."
Like another time when my sister got her permit.. (Ted and my sister aren't the tallest people)
My sister: I drove here today!
Ted: Really? I didn't know they make special pedals for you!
Me: you of all people should be talking right "Ted?"

I respond to him in these tones almost every time he talks..
I've been trying not to talk around him these days ,but he asked me if why I was being such a jerk and not talking to him...

anyone have any suggestions for me..?

I think you have some major temper issues right now? How old are you? I'm guessing 16 around there, so around my age and I'm 16. But yeah, I've went through some major changes at this age with like temper problems and not being able to control my emotions... just do what everyone will told you to do as a child and think twice act once... if he's calling you a jerk for not talking to him.... then... i just say keep talking to him...
maybe it's just YOU who thinks you're being a jerk
if you've been talking to him in that matter for a while now... and you're still good friends.. im sure he doesnt take offense and just sees it as normal... so... just talk to him like you always do..


if that's not the case... and you wanna stop.. i would just suggest thinking twice before opening your mouth?

i dont think ignoring someone is the best way to go...
but i mean.. if you're friends.. im sure he'll understand you're joking with him.... cuz if he was offended or whatever... he woulda said something.... at least.. that's what i think. ^^;

Maybe take a few seconds out before responding? To just let yourself think about how it might hurt the other person first?

I had the same problem as you at one point, always being jerk to my ex's friend.
He couldn't take a joke so he thought I was being a jerk

My friends & I always pay each other out like that, but we don't take it to the heart.

Maybe you're just a little impulsive, if you register what you've just said, just end it by saying, I'm joking buddy. Or say something that won't make him feel bad about it.

I don't think your being a jerk, because girls have their moments, i mean like the part with your sister, you were just defending her ? And sometimes i can be a btch to my guy friend too, heck, were btches to each other, as long you don't hurt his feelings. I know why. You don't like it when Ted talk's badly of others, so this is ur natural reflex, that u want to give him a taste of his own medicine. Maybe u should be honest with what u think of Ted, and tell him that when he say's things, it can hurt others. But what u said to Ted was mean. Why are u like that? .. i think u know.

If u were trying to be funny, it didn't turn out well. There is a way to a mean humor. But not everyone can be funny.
You can try, but laugh at your own joke first, and then u know other's will laugh with u too. U dnt want to loose a friend, so better talk now, or it's goin to turn awkward, n then ur might loose a friend.
