It may be difficult for you to make new friends easily since you're out of state. My friend, who is also not from Indiana, went there for his freshman year and absolutely hated it because he felt as though everyone knew each other already and were already comfortable in their own little circles. He lived off-campus and had a terribly difficult time making new friends - so I recommend that you stay on-campus so you'd have lots more opportunities to meet new people. smile.gif

GOOD LUCK!

I just finished my first year at Purdue. I didn't have that much fun because I focused on studying more than having fun. Its really important to balance the two because even on the weekends I didn't really do much. If you're into partying there are always parties. I think Purdue has one of the largest greek life. I'm an out of state student too and it was hard for me to adjust but I soon made friends.
The campus itself is beautiful but West Lafayette kind of sucks because there isn't much to do except they do have good restaurants.
I think everyone adjust to college differently and for me it was kind of rough but it usually gets better the second year.
If you guys are incoming freshmen, I definitely recommend doing BGR (Boiler Gold Rush) because its a great way to meet other incoming freshmen and to get adjusted to the campus a week before everyone else moves in.
btw I'm in engineering but I know a few people who were in the pre-pharm program and I heard its hard to get into the pharmacy professional school
Anyway, if you have anymore questions just let me know and I'll try my best to answer them

Purdue is pretty famous for its Pharmacy school, a few of my friends are going there for it. But of course, it's probably hard to get in since it's so prestigious but it's worth a try if you're willing to work hard, right? :)

I've only been up there a few times to pick up my brother during breaks, but it's a pretty nice campus. Any college is what you make of it really, and there are tons of opportunities at Purdue since it's such a big school. It's definitely a good school education-wise, but as for the social life you just have to find your niche. :] I must say though, it's like 60% male because it's most famous for its engineering program. XD

yeah.. i'm attending Purdue this fall 2009... but i'm in aviation technology... Purdue has one of the best aviation program in the nation.. (besides Embry and AFA)
but i'm coming from California as well.. so i don't know how life in Indiana is going to be.. i went to STAR and i'm worried about the weather .. since it's so humid and so different from cali..
but financial is the bigger issue than anything else..

I'll be attending Purdue in Fall of 2009 also and I will be in the Undergraduate Studies Program.
It was pouring rain in the morning of my STAR... sad.gif

Financial will be a big issue for me too since I am coming from Maryland.
Out-of-state tuition is triple the in-state.
I wrote two appeal letters to Purdue and they were both rejected...

I would recommend bringing a nice umbrella (because you never know when it is going to rain) and buying a nice winter coat.. It can get pretty chilly in Indiana.

Most of the people there are from Indiana or Chicago... wonder if there is going to be anyone from Maryland or even the East Coast.
