I think tonight's episode will be good...saw some sneak peeks ....idk y but I like this show a lot...especially elena. I actually like the fact that she's not blond....she's really pretty.

LJ Smith wrote a version of VD was more "explicit" but the publisher said it would be better if she tone it down for teens-to young adult range so it can get it more interesting and appealing to that age range. I think the writers for VD tv series intend to make the storyline different from True Blood. If you noticed, True Blood is targeting people ranging mostly 18 and up while VD is targeting people ranging 15 and up so that is why the script is written opposite from True Blood. They want to attract a certain age group so they wrote it completely different to make it suitable for younger teens to understand and grasp on it easier.

yeah this show was definitely targeted for the younger teens.. like those that love twilight. I read an interview once by Stefan (whatever his real name is) thanking the Twilight craze because without it, there would have not been this show. This show started because of Twilight so that's why it's aimed at young teens.

I wanna read the books, but no time. But to those who have read it, did the author write well compared to the Twilight series? Oh gosh, Stephanie Meyer told a great story but damn she sucks so bad at writing. >_>

Soo.. anyways. Tonight's (or last night actually) episode was okay, AGAIN. I like the actors and stuff but I feel like Elena and Stefan don't have a lot of chemistry on screen. I don't see the "intense sparks" they are suppose to have! Does anyone else think so? I also still don't understand why he came back just for her if they never met before.. but maybe it will make sense later.

I also think Stefan acts too pained/quiet in the show.. it's actually starting to bug me AND bore me. Like when Elena walked in the house and then says bye to him and he just moves. Doesn't even look at her or say ANYTHING. How could you do that to a girl you supposedly "love" or "came back for" ?!!? haha. oh well.

I really hope this gets better. I need a vamp. show while True Blood is gone too =(

Ugh. I only watch it for Ian--he provides the spice. He's so hot<3 Otherwise this show would be hella boring. Lucky for this show I have nothing else to watch on Thursdays at 8.

After watching True Blood season 1 & 2 this series is nothing compared to TB

I really like this show actually, and all the people I know do too, including my younger brother (who's 18). XD I haven't watched True Blood yet though, even though I read the Southern Vampire novels back in high school. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I think if you don't compare this show too much to something like True Blood, which is targeted at a much older audience than the Vampire Diaries and is consequently very different, you can enjoy it more.

Stefan is actually growing on me, and I think he looks more handsome on screen that in pictures. Elena is really pretty too, but Damon is the one who really makes the show for me.

you know i HATE twilight. like i HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE twilight, lol. although i will admit new moon looks substantially better....but i still hate twilight, lol. so the only reason i watched this in the first place was cuz i wanted to make fun of it. the premiere was definately too much twilight but i stuck around for the second ep cuz those ratings were INSANE (for cw). coming from i twilight hater, i actually somewhat enjoyed the second ep. of course, there's still those twilight elements i hate BUT vd is much darker (i actually scared at some parts) and sexier w/o becoming tb. i've never seen tb cuz i dont have hbo but from what ive heard VD seems like a cross btwn twilight's beyond corny cheesiness and tb risque-ness. damon is a serious badass and stefan and elena dont make me puke (as much) unlike edward and bella.

i doubt i'll make this priority on my tv list, but i will stick around just to see.

i like how people are comparing this show to true blood... obviously the shows are going to be different. they're on two completely different networks that targets two completely different audiences. i personally enjoy the vampire diaries a lot! the story, although a bit cheesy, is watchable and i'm interested in what's going to happen next. and i like the vampire brothers, how one is good and one is bad.

Missed the premiere but saw the 2nd. I'm a bit disappointed. I never showed interest but decided to watch. After seeing, it was rather boring and slow on my end. Maybe it's the casting...with the exception of Ian, he has gorgeous eyes! Or yes, everyone has mentioned it, the corny-ness.

A new episode is on tonight (?) I believe. Not sure if I'll be watching this. And why is this being compared to True Blood? Both shows are entirely different, the audience target for this show is clearly young whilst True Blood is mature. Why bring up the topic of Twilight?

In the novel, Elena does love Stefan and Damon also loves her too. At first Damon wants her because she keeps on pushing him away and also to piss off Stefan but he slowly fell in love with her. Elena ended up also lloving both brothers. So far the novel collection has not ended yet and so we don't know who she will chose at the end. But I do hope its Stefan
