Top 10 Pixar Characters
May 21, 2009 - The movie-making geniuses at Pixar Animation Studios have established themselves as leaders in animation not only with their technical prowess, but also by bringing formidable story-telling ability to bear. At the core of each of the studio's beloved films are fantastic characters. Pixar movies consistently feature some of the most endearing, entertaining characters in the animated genre.
As the release of Up, which drops on May 29, approaches, we thought we'd take a look back at studio's past films and highlight their greatest character creations. Here's our list of top 10 Pixar characters...
10. Luxo Jr. from Luxo Jr. short and is the Pixar Logo
Luxo Jr. is the central character from Pixar's 1986 animated short of the same name. The two-and-a-half minute film, Pixar's first, helped launch them into the CG-animation stratosphere and this lovable little light now serves as studio's mascot.

9. Remy from Ratatouille
Ewww! A rat! It's not often that you'll find a typically vilified rodent on a list of best characters, but we would be remiss in not recognizing Remy, the lead character in what is arguably Pixar's most creatively evolved film, 2007's Ratatouille.

8. Edna Mode from The Incredibles
Edna "E" Mode is the design diva to the supers in The Incredibles. She is given a chance to shine when called out of her imposed retirement to repair damage to Mr. Incredible's supersuit. The diminutive, eccentric, and brash Edna ultimately produces a series of completely new, matching outfits for the entire family.

7. EVE from WALL-E
EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) is a sexy, state-of-the-art robot designed to search Earth for plant-life and test for habitability. But she's distracted from her mission when she encounters a strange mobile trash compactor.

6. Mike Wazoski from Monsters, Inc.
Mike Wazowski is the cute, green, tennis ball-shaped monster with a single giant eye from Pixar's fourth film Monsters, Inc.

5. Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles
Bob Parr (AKA Mr. Incredible) is a washed up superhero living an anonymous, mundane life in the suburbs with his secretly super-powered family. Bob (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) combats boredom by moonlighting with his pal Frozone as a crime-fighter.

4. Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story and Toy Story 2
Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen) is a space ranger action figure with all the bells and whistles: a laser beam, karate-chop action, pop-out wings and the unwavering belief that he's on a secret mission for Star Command. Much to the chagrin of Woody, Buzz arrives on the scene and takes over as Andy's favorite toy.

3. Dory from Finding Nemo
The image of Nemo, the cute little clownfish, may be the thing that first pops into your mind when considering Pixar's 2003 blockbuster, but it's Dory, the goofball Blue Tang with a bad memory, who truly stole the show in Finding Nemo.

2. WALL-E from WALL-E
WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) is the beloved title character in 2008's cinematic hit of the same name. With his expressive eyes, clumsy manner, and curious innocence, the character won the hearts of moviegoers and of the sleek robotic probe EVE who is initially only concerned with her mission.

1.When Toy Story burst on the scene in 1995, it was the lovable Sheriff Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), the vintage pull-string cowboy toy with a sense of adventure, who tugged at the heartstrings of audiences with his devotion to six-year-old Andy.
