ever since i was younger (lets say : k-6), i was never able to go out.
and i just didn't understand, because my parents
would always say NO & won't even pay attention to the kids.

sleepovers aren't allowed.
no malls. oh and i don't have a cell >_>

I'm always a prisoner at home, having to take
care of my sister. im not even allowed to take walks -_-alone..

Everytime i ask to go out, they ask me WHY and i tell them FOR FUN/social life/what a kid needs.
my dad just doesn't understand that concept of kids having fun.
he doesnt 'like' me having fun. he wants me to be 'productive, useful,
sufficient' and all that asian daughter shizz.

EDIT:
My parents do make sense, they're just looking over me.
its just that i have a problem because they look over me
as a child, then expect me to be an old adult.
take responsibility and blah blah. Oh, and I'm 13(:
I don't go out often. Twice a month if if i beg, at most ?
Well i feel a little better after reading some of the replies.
thanks !
i guess, i could try to persuade...or wait until i get older.
Oh, and my curfew is around 8 pm ? i never stay past midnight
and stuff.

so i wanna hear from you guys, if you're parents were chill or not
about ya'll going out with friends. or at what age.
i want to relate to someone :3
so i feel better ? xD

and don't go all brownie on me, i just want diff thoughts about it.

and THANK YOU (: i'm learning to deal ^^

Same! I've never been allowed to sleep over (unless it's at a relatives house), although I'm allowed to have them ahha.

I started going out with friends at the age of 12-13. I think the latest they've ever let me stay out, to this day (i'm almost 18) is like 4am. Originally I had a curfew of about 6:00PM... then it gradually got later and later since I'm getting older and my parents are always too busy these days to care haha. Basically I have to call them and tell them where I am and when I get home. I only stay out past midnight if it's a party or something...

Anyway, if you keep listening to your parents, nothing will ever change. When I was 13, I had friends who were never allowed out because they had parents similar to yours. Now, they're allowed to go out but only until 5PM (which is an extremely early curfew if you ask me...). They never rebelled or stood up against their parents so their parents felt like could just control their kid like that. I'm not telling you to break all the "rules" your parents impose on you, but I'm just telling you to slowly make your own decisions and go out anyway lol. They'll eventually give up or lighten their grip if they see that you don't listen but can STILL come home safely.

Uhm, I've been going out like as in hanging out since I was like 7 or 8 lmao. To play in the street and stuff.
As for going out to like, places. 12~13 yo they let me do that, sleepovers and that.
15 I was allowed to go to house parties... but they always said "no drinking" but you know, we both knew. House party. Y'know? XD
16 now and I've got a little bit more inpendance, questions aren't asked as much, just as long as they know my whereabouts and who I'm with. that's it. xD

then again I don't have from what I've learnt here on soompi, the notorious asian parents who are said to be super strict.

i think my parents (well. my mom, because she has the last say on everything in my house.) are like yours. maybe worse:

i could never invite friends over to the house. ever. until i was about...16 i did. secretly. haha. let's see -- i always had to be home straight after school -- unless i had some club thing to go to. i probably went out with friends on a WEEKEND only a couple of times a year. and when i did go out with friends on a weekend, i had to be back in like, 3-4 hours, which is kind of stupid since walking to the bus stop and taking the bus to wherever i'm going already takes an hour. so yeah. outside of school, i had no social life -- i never thought of complaining because i already knew what my mom would say -- 'you're not like the other kids'.

...and now i'm in college. i go out at 2AM or whenever i want to, eat what i want, hang out with who i want, etc. hahaha. do i miss this when i go home for vacations? YES.

I started going out with friends when I was 12-13ish. I'm still 13 though. haha
My parents are like yours, they would get protective of me going out. Saying I'll get rape. unsure.gif
But after some begging and whining >_> I got them to say yes whenever I ask to go out. But I usually just go out with my friends one time a month.

well i started going out when i was 12 >_>"
but it was like BARELY like .. maybe once a month or two with friends
but as i grew up i went out more often, but i still come home like 6 the latest smile.gif
been out with friends like once at night but i had friends to take me home so yeah smile.gif
now i kind of know my " parents limits " for me going out, eg i cant go out twice in a row in a week or soemthing so yeah, i`ll just turn down offers from friends before asking me parents

Well when I wanted to go out to the mall or whatever my mum would come with haha
and after while my mum would get to know my friends parents so that she'll let me out alone
and soon as I got older she didn't need to know anymore EVERY single of my friend's parents I'm going out with.

My mum is still ehhh on the sleepovers. She only allows me sleep at my best friends house because she knows her parents well.

I think around 12/13 as well.

Mm,
Started at eleven years old, for me.
My 'curfew' was 12am.
And it still is.. But I never follow it, lol.
On New Years, I got home at 4:30am.
Just last week, I came home from Prom at 6am. =]
As like others, I'm not allowed to sleep over..

I find that the more 'protective' parents are..
The more the child will want to rebel. blink.gif

I started going out when I was 14 but barely and only if my mum came along then I was allowed to go. She started letting me out by myself when I was 16, she didnt care as long as I call her to let her know I'm safe etc. As I got older, I stayed out later, sometimes even all night. I'm 18 now.

i'm 19, and i've never really discussed a curfew with my parents. i mean, if i'm with people my parents know then they're okay with it. my dad does get worried though and keeps wondering when i'm coming home even if it's 6pm. <.<

i think the latest i've stayed out is...2am? i don't party or anything. my friends and i just hang out and do random things and wander around the city, haha. since i have friends that drive, i can get a ride home safely, so i think that makes my parents feel better. i also hardly hang out with friends because they live further away and i'm always in school, so yeah.

The latest I'm allowed out is 7PM. I'm freakin almost 19 too!!
And i wasn't allowed to hang out with friends until i was 16 or 17.
Even then it couldn't be too long and it had to be helllaaa early in the morning,
like 10 am on a Saturday for just a a few hours.

my mom is pretty chill about it, as long as i don't get in trouble or anything i'm allowed to go out most of the time. I'm 17 now, and it's been like this for years.
I don't really have a curfew, but it's not like i can stay out that late. Then again, it's not like I need one since my friends are the ones who don't go out alot or when they do they have to be home early, so in the end i go home early anyways. I think the latest i've stayed out was 3:30 AM for prom. She's basically okay if it's a special occasion and theres alot of ppl with me.

Lmao, you're parents still think you're a baby too? Well my mom still calls me a baby... and I don't mean in the "darling" sort of way, I mean the "you're an actual baby" sort of way. Well, my first sleep over was in 3rd grade, but that was because they lived near and our house, and my parents wanted to check on me during the night I was staying. As I got older I went to more sleepovers, but I can't stay the night unless it's someone's birthday or something. My parents were afraid I would get kidnapped lmao, when you're already sleeping over it's already some sort of kidnap. My advice... wait until you're in high school or college, you'll start going out A LOT.
