i know absolutely NOTHING about computers/laptops so i'd appreciate any advice/recomms.
i would probably only use it for word processing (and other micro.office), listening to music (itunes), and internet (so probably youtube, dling music, normal searching etc).
But since i want to use it during classes i would need a longlasting battery...(?)
are sony vaio, toshiba good for me?
and what about mac? ive never used a mac before (well ive used my friends' now and then), but my university uses it and also, i can use microsoft windows on mac right? and on the net, there are good reviews about macs...
but i really dont know. obviously i cant just choose a laptop because its pretty haha
thanks!
------edit-------
ok my friends suggest mac, and i think mac would be ok cus my uni has imacs in the library & classroom so i assume it will work fine for uni.
does it come with microsoft office or will i have to buy this separately?
also, i can get a discount on 3 types of macbooks.
they are all the same 13.3" macbook, but the diffs are;
1)1gb/120gb/combo/isight
2)2gb/160gb/superdrive/isight
3)2gb/250gb/superdrive/isight
what do these mean?
and if im only using for wordprocessing and internet and simple stuff (will not be using any spectacular software!)
would the first one be ok? wat is combo/superdrive?i dont know what thse mean! =(
(oh, and will any printer be compatible with it?)
thank youuuu
(i would appreciate PMs for more specific advice! thanks)
your needs are not anything special and any laptop can do it.
long battery life on the other hand is something different. You'll want a laptop with NO dedicated video card as they drain power.
currently, the laptops with very good battery life are the Lenovo Thinkpad T400, and the Dell Latitude E series. they have battery life beyond nearly all of the current competition!
The Macs are good but keep in mind that around October they will be replaced with newer models (thats next month). I don't know whats in the newer ones but the rumor is that there will be a big change.
As for the mac above..
stick to one with a super drive. a super drive is Apple's way of saying your laptop can make its own dvds. a combo drive means it can read a dvd, but it can't make its own. "isight" is just Apples way of saying there's a webcam built in. All of them can do what u want (internet, ms word, etc) as like I said..what you do isn't anything special.
However if you absolutely CAN'T wait for the new Apples, and refuse to go for the T400 or Dell Latitude (the T400 will probably be cheaper too and better built).. then go for #2 or #3.
