^that's with the discount from the school... (but I'm looking for something, with the same specs, that's under $2000 if it's possible)
But I think the price is still too high. Are there any other laptops out there that have the same specs, and can handle Autocad and 3DMAX, but has a more reasonable price? I looked around for computers that meet the requirements above, yet I'm not sure if I should stick to this one or find a better deal...
There was a presentation today about laptops for our major, yet they did not offer any other options (the lady will probably be getting commission for the laptops we buy

). I just wanted to make sure that it'll be worth it if I'll be spending so much $$$ on it.
Some upperclassmen say that it's not really necessary to get a laptop, and that instead, we should just get a desktop w/ a lot of memory and a good gfx card, with a 24+" monitor or something instead of the laptop, since it seems overpriced... If you had these options, which would you choose? I don't have to get this laptop until December/January-ish, so if there's anything that might come out then, should I wait until last min.?
Anyhoodles, thanks so much for your time and for your help!
