what does the "real world" mean to you?
i'll start off. the "real world" to me is a place where people don't give a s about you . it is a place where people only care about themselves. it is a real rough place where everyone is trying to 1up on you. it is a place where you should not dare show any weakness because if you do then people will take advantage of you and drag you into the dirt.
maybe im a bit jaded but that is what "real world" means to me.
what is your interpretation?

you guys must have had a nice life before hitting 20. to me, those things are just common sense.
the real world is where you separate the wheat from the chaff. other than that, i can't really find a difference between "the real world" and.....wait. if you guys weren't living in the "real world," where were you guys? fantasy land? i don't get this topic...

this "fantasy land" you are talking about is the ideals i once held about the world. i used to be naive enough to think that most people cared about me and would not ever betray me yada yada and stuff like that. but looking back i wonder why i held such an optimistic outlook in the world when even in my elementary days people were treating each other like crap and only cared about themselves and their status amongst their peers.

I know I definitely get taken advantage of sometimes because I'm nice.
But you know, there will be people who are not trying to 1up you or treat you like crap. There are going to be people who genuinely care about you.

what you wrote reminded me of Death Note. lol
well, i don't know why you all have such a negative attitude. in 10-15 years most people will be on the same level more/less. it's pretty hard to deviate from the mean.
so why don't you just enjoy your youth and let everyone else deal with this bs you all are complaining about. the bs you see now isn't going to matter in the future. but then again, some people do like the drama...
whatever, that's how i see the real world i guess. i guess i'm on my own planet though since my circumstances are so different.

what do you mean by "same level"? do you mean same "its a cold world" mentality?

oh, i meant financially, career placement, living situation, etc.
basically- middle class.
the mentality is all based on the individual.
i don't see much of a difference the middle class and upper-middle class. it's all about how you life and fulfill your life, and i don't think having a negative mentality will do anything for you. of course, i'm just saying what i would personally do.

yet on a lighter, good note, to me its being independent, having to work for what i want/need, deadlines to meet, etc...

The real world? It's like finished the tutorial of a game.. haha.
Anyways, you get to "explore" the whole world. You can make any choice, because you're not on a linear path anymore (study for elementary school, study for high school, get into a good university... ???... profit).
You can try to work anywhere, or start your own thing, etc. etc.
As long as you pay the bills. Or even if you don't, I suppose. More responsibility, more stress, more freedom.
But can't sleep in until 4PM anymore

End of a tutorial is right hahaha! And in this game you can't cheat (unless you're some son of a filthy rich politician or business tycoon, that'd be an endless tutorial, and you get to "cheat" all the time).
Kidding aside, the real world for me is a world where you can see and relate to everything - from the high feeling of earning your own money, spending your own money, giving something for your family and loved ones using your hard earned money.
see the common denominator? i don't want to believe it to but the real world we are in is run by money in almost every aspect.
big part of this real world is world poverty and hunger. well i think that's pretty explanatory. No money, no honey.
Sad but true.

"Where everybody is uptight, over-worked, stressed out, some can't spend time with their families..some lose their families through divorce.."
The land where you choose your own path. You're human, can't be perfect.
