"On September 18, 2007, computer science professor Randy Pausch stepped in front of an audience of 400 people at Carnegie Mellon University to deliver a last lecture called “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” With slides of his CT scans beaming out to the audience, Randy told his audience about the cancer that is devouring his pancreas and that will claim his life in a matter of months. On the stage that day, Randy was youthful, energetic, handsome, often cheerfully, darkly funny. He seemed invincible. But this was a brief moment, as he himself acknowledged.

Randy’s lecture has become a phenomenon, as has the book he wrote based on the same principles, celebrating the dreams we all strive to make realities. Sadly, Randy lost his battle to pancreatic cancer on July 25th, 2008, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all, for generations to come."

I felt compelled to create a thread after watching his last lecture -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo
Yes, it's an hour long but trust me on this one it's well worth your time. The absolute 1:16:27 I've spent on Youtube. Ever. He really delivers a great message: one we should all remind ourselves of every day. This is good stuff guys! I haven't read his book yet but I do plan to pick it up this summer. For those who have read it.. care to share your thoughts?

I've read the book. It wasn't that good. I mean, it hasn't made me want to fulfill my childhood dreams (perhaps I will want to when I get older?)

I don't normally read these kind of books, so that influences my opinion.

^ Uhm yeah I agree, some things he said really hit me but I don't think the book was as great as everyone made it sound.
Love me when it makes no sense at all.

I was thinking about buying this book, but I might just borrow it from the library if it's not that good...

I had to watch the lecture for a class and I enjoyed it.
I wouldn't read the book just because I'm not into that self-help business, but I do recommend watching the lecture.
It's very entertaining and mind-opening.

I never complete reading the book, however, I did watch the lecture, it was a good experience. I learned a few things from the lecture.
