anyways, a pad should be fine. just bring extra to change every few hours. but since it's summer, it'll be hot....so i guess it's up to you to get tampons so the pad doesn't stick. (btw, you can get tampons for free at certain bathrooms and the recreational sports center. I just don't know if they'll be open during summer).

I agree, and always bring spare pads.. cause you never know what might happen.
Talk to your mom about it, tell her you feel more comfortable wearing tampons instead of pads. If that's how you feel.

just make sure to bring like..two or three spare pads, and make sure they're like..heavy flow.
use the OVERNIGHT ones for extra protection if you're feeling really insecure.
and wear tighter panties so they don't move.
and if you're really feeling unsafe with the pads, talk with your mom about the tampons.

you can put toilet paper with your pad if youre really insecure ?
but if youre not too comfortable about wearing pads, talk to your mum about tampons.

The tampons...you should take your mom's advice on those, ok? Wear those when you're older and more sure of yourself. Don't hide and use them without her knowledge. There are risks associated with using them and you have to be very careful when inserting and wearing them. I don't think you would know about Toxic Shock Syndrome- a fair number of women get it from improper use of tampons and it's scary because it's possible to die from it quickly and suddenly, especially if you don't get treated soon enough. Even if you're lucky, it will still make you very sick. One minute you're suddenly running a crazy high fever, next minute you can be dead... So trash the tampons for now.
And, don't be worried! You just started, so relax

oh i know about toxic shock syndrome but that only when you leave the tampon in for more than about 8 hours and the tampon absorbs your bodly fluids.(or something close to that >.<)

Hmm, I wish it were that simple. Everybody knows about not leaving in tampons too long. But another way that a girl can easily get it is if she doesn't wash her hands before inserting the tampon. Also if her nails are long, or a bit uneven, she can actually injure her inside walls (ouch) and a cut in there is big, big trouble because everyday bacteria from your hands is NOT supposed to make its way into any cuts there...You're probably almost guaranteed to get it if you injure yourself that way by mistake.
Wow, scary. A lot of girls get it, but of course many won't die from it, thankfully. But is it worth getting so ill? A younger girl should stay away from tampons, I guess that's why her mom doesn't want her using them now. She's exposing herself to danger by hiding and using them. Supposing she does suddenly get ill, and doctors are trying to find out possible factors from her parents.
So the doctor asks, "Does your daughter use tampons?" and of course her mom would say no, when in fact that is the reason why she is sick. This is a serious thing. The fact that she uses tampons would never occur to her mom, and so the doctor may never even suspect TSS because a lot of other things can cause high fever, dizziness, vomiting etc. That's not a good situation at all.

Also, unless you have a heavy flow the entire period, it'll lessen overtime (for me it does), so you can relax a bit more when days go by (only for it to start in 4 weeks again >__<).
