hey everyone, I'm really confused about the imaging sensor size. i have heard that the bigger the size, the better the quality of the photo is and more detailed. that being i don't zoom my photos and blow them up real big i just usually shoot them in the 1000 pixels and then resizing them to 400x300. does the imaging sensor size play an important part? i know that on digital point and shoots, a 1/1.7" is better than a 1/2.5" sensor size.
oops, please move to troubleshooting and help. thanks!

The time it makes a difference would be in low light performance. I don't know if you can get less noise at a lower resolution, but I believe low light performance is same regardless of resolution.

Basically higher megapixel the denser it is, denser = less sensitive.
So by having a larger sensor, it can make the sensors little larger yielding better quality images with less noise.
(noise is the blue and crazy stuff webcams get a lot of)
