Easy Workout Tips

I thought it would be fun to share some of the ways I workout without really "working out." I don't think many girls want to have my upper body b/c it is very manly and V-shaped (I used to be a competitive butterflier) but if I may stroke my own ego a little, I've always had nice legs and decent abs. My legs are very toned and well-shaped ^^ My abs aren't as impressive and i do get a little jiggle when I am stressed out but all things considered, I don't have much jiggle XD Even after I stopped swimming they have stayed that way even though I have not set a foot in the gym or dieted for over 5 years (and I still eat like a swimmer aka 4-5 meals a day). Obviously, these are no replacement to actually working out but hmm.....this is good for the chronically lazy like me happy.gif

Here are my "secrets" to nice legs w/o going to the gym or setting aside time to work out:
1.) I never just "sit" in my chair. I usually sit in crouching position (like i'm doing crunches in my seat) at home and at work I sit at the very tip of my seat so that all the pressure is on my thighs. In this way I am actually "always" working out my legs. Think about how much you are working out when you sit like this while you are surfing the internet! After awhile it becomes habit too so you just do it all the time.
2.) In the shower i do wall sits while i am shampooing my hair and stuff biggrin.gif
3.) When I walk I stretch out my legs all the way with every step, to the point i feel a stretch in my thighs with every single step. This is actually how models walk (to minimize jiggle on the runway, you have to keep each muscle tight). I roll from my heels to balls of my feet with each step.
4.) Even when I am just relaxing, I tend to fidget with my legs by pointing and un-pointing my toes constantly.
5.) Maybe b/c i have a high arch in my foot but I actually love wearing heels. Combine this with walking the "model' walk (tip 3) all the time, my legs naturally get a workout all day.
6.) When I am sitting, I don't put my feet on the floor. I lift them 3-4 in off the floor till i feel tension in my thighs and abs. I just do this when I am bored.
7.) Last thing. When I have a choice, i rarely even USE a chair. I prefer to stand in a "wall sit" position in empty air, which literally works out your entire leg and abs.

Abs:
1.) When I am lying down I flex my tummy muscles and kind of "roll" my tummy. I just do this out of habit but it really works out my abs and is easy to do while you are reading, studying, surfing the net...anything really~
2.) When I am bored in line, I like to see how long I can flex my abs and not breathe for fun. This sounds kind of stupid but its fun to me. I just tighten my tummy and hold my breath as long as I can, then release. And I keep doing it till its my turn at the cash register.
* The above things actually force you to improve your posture too so 2-in-1!

Hope these help people get in shape for summer faster (and easier xD)

If anyone has easy workout tips likes these (esp for upper arms) please share!!!!

i do calf raises when im brushing my teeth biggrin.gif
and mini leg lifts when im sitting in a chair

- Walk around or stand up when you're talking on the phone.
- Give up your seat in the bus and stand instead.
- Dance while you're cooking, cleaning or maybe in the shower. XD
- Fidget a lot.
- Take the stairs.
- Do 10 pushups or sit-ups during commercials and try adding more after doing 10 gets boring.
- Raise your arm up really high when you're answering a question in class.
- Park your car far away from the mall so you can walk there and get some exercise.
- Use shopping baskets instead of carts to work out your arms.
- Try not to over dress yourself because when your cold, you'll be more motivated to move.
