Are you kidding me that American uses too much auto tune ? Last time I heard 2PM's again and again was auto tuned, Super Junior's sorry sorry was auto tuned, Big Bang's Gara Gara Go was auto tuned, 2ne1's lollipop was pretty auto tuned as well. So dont act like Asian music is not guilty of it either.
And mentalfiction , you obviously dont listen to enough American music to say that the only artists that dont talk about sex is Disney artists. Because I can list many non-Disney American artists who dont sing about that. And dont say theres no more variety left in American music when you know pretty well that most Asian music today tend follow American music trends.(especially KPOP)
Dont get me wrong , I like both American and Asian music equally. But some people here use poor reasonings to hate.
Errr. You said

I'll copy and paste this:
It's such a bad arguement to use maintream KPOP music as a reasoning to say how bad KPOP & the general asian music is.
American music is auto tune. Asian music is auto tune. But for me, Asian music deserves more respect than American music; lyrics wise.

He never said that the korean music industry is bad. Rather, he's just pointing out that they are just as guilty of using auto-tune as american artists.
As for auto-tune, at the start it was quite creative but eventually everyone started to jump on the bandwagon. Like Jay-Z said "It was a trend, it was cool in the beginning. Some people made great music with it, now it's time to move on."
Maybe b/c I don't limit myself but my musical interests vary from Bob Dylan to MJ to Flogging Molly to Pearl Jam etc. You can't limit your musical intrests to what you hear on the radio or see on mtv especially when it comes to rap and r&b.
Same here. I pretty much listen to what's good. From MJ to Nirvana to Bob Dylan to Radiohead. And there's plenty more. I don't mind mainstream pop songs as some of them do have really good beats and such but in the end, they're just a fun song to listen to. Nothing that'll impact me.
I prefer not necessarily american music but western music in general.

Thanks for not reading my post correctly. Did I say how bad Asian music was ? No . I already stated that I like both equally . That reply is mostly towards TOKYOFEVER's point because she brings the point of how America uses auto tune too much as a reasoning for her dislike to American music. so I brang the point that Asian music is also guilty of it too. Im not just pointing fingers at KPOP .
And please tell me why Asian music deserves more respect in lyrics then American music? Deserving more respect for lyrics is dependent on the artist themselves . There will always be bad and good artists coming from Asian and American music.

Ugh, SO true. Everyone is just using crappy mainstream American music as a comparison.
I personally prefer American music, specifically indie music. I don't like Asian music as much because it all seems too sweet? And [to me] it seems like their songs all use the same structure/formula?

Well yeah he didn't say KPOP was bad but for me it's his way of saying it.

No you didn't say how bad it is but please don't use mainstream KPOP to generalize Asian music here.
What I'm trying to point is that why can't you accept that American music is also auto tune like KPOP? O________O
Talking about mainstream here, Asian lyrics deserves more respect. There might be respectable American lyrics out there but they are underground. What sells in America are those that I can't stand. Though they are catchy and all, Asian lyrics > Western.

K , you obviously didnt read it clear enough again . Everyone understands what I meant except for you. I already KNOW and ACCEPT the fact that American music has autotune as well. I was not doubting TOKYOFEVER's response to her saying that American music uses too much autotune in the first place. I was just pointing out that Asian music is guilty of using it a lot too. Im not generalizing, Im just making a point . (Man , feel like im repeating myself here to a brickwall).

Well yeah, you see you're missing my point too. Like I said, I know there are exceptions out there. But a lot of the times it's really hard to find them.
I find kpop music 'cuz I hang around soompi.
I find american music 'cuz I watch TV
What do I see on TV? Sex sex and more sex.
I dunno any forum or website as big as soompi that is about all these 'unsung heroes' who dared to make a song that is not sex-related. How the hell am I supposed to listen to more songs by them? They are all mostly underground, I listen to a few underground artists, and their lyrics are usually amazing. Before, these songs used to be everywhere, now you just gotta dig deep to find them. Shows how media favoured sex over something worth listening to.
And like I said, all the others that don't talk about sex brand themselves rockstars. For a person that is a hardcore rock fan, that is just a pain in the a$$.
And also, I think why I say kpop has more variety is 'cuz of all the bubblegum pop (lol for some reason I lovee it) and I don't see any bubblegum pop in American music. If I do find one, the amount of cutesy-ness the artist tries to fit in to the one song just gives me shudders.
KPOP does follow American music, but at least they had the decency not to discuss sex in detail.
I don't hate American music, I hate whats mainstream lately.

there are still some asian songs that i like, but overall, it's american that i like.
it's mostly because asian music gets extremely repetitive to me and i hate it when they use english that doesn't make sense.
i especially get sick of korean songs very quickly.

Lol, this is one of the first times I've heard people complain about sex on American TV. I guess it's because Koreans are even more prudish in comparison. Believe me, European and even daytime (not usually primetime) Japanese TV has more sex than Americans do. I'm not exactly sure about what channels you're watching, but usually Americans just elude to sex or show them making out in the bed, they don't actually show anything like the Europeans do. Americans are more notorious for their love of violence than for sex. I don't really know what everyone has against sex; but that's me. It sells, that's it. SNSD also sells sexual fantasies, albeit in a more subtle way.
I have to disagree with the notion that Kpop really has (good) bubblegum pop - they did in the earlier part of the decade and maybe in the '90's, but most of what the mainstream puts out now is pseudo-R&B/hip hop music.

Maybe. With the new song, yes, but not with any that I've heard in the past. But even if there are any, at least they don't leave me scarred for life
And not sex as in showing sex. I mean lyrically. And anyways, I don't listen to/watch European music anyways, and the only Japanese music I listen to is jrock, and I know very few that actually have to do with sex, 'cuz I dunno, I just feel uncomfortable listening to songs like those.
I think American rap is more violent, and American pop is more sexual.
About bubblegum pop, I dunno, I guess I just prefer this sort of music.

Seriously, I hardly listen to mainstream American music unless it has a really good beat to it but as for Asian alot is bubble gum pop. The lyrics? It's very sweet and obviously no special meaning to it, when I look up for the subs it seems like something a little 15 year old girl would feel when she think she's in love.
