Sex is a part of health and many people have sex. Its something your naturally want to do and it should be safe. My boyfriend and I are active and we use condoms. I'm currently looking for a good birth control. i stubble upon this one while looking for ways to relieve cramps.

http://www.lybrel.com/

Lybrel concludes that you would not have a normal menstruation which I'm up for that one. biggrin.gif There is also Plan B http://www.go2planb.com/

I wonder has anyone taken any of these products or use other products?

we don't know a good birth control for you.
because we don't really know your body or how it works.
go to a gyno. they'll recommend one for you.
and you'll probably have to try it out for a couple weeks and see if it's okay with you.
but for the first week, you'll probably have to use condoms. just in case.

from things i've heard about the birth control shot,.. stay away. haha.
it's like.. being on your period everyday, without the blood. :\

and plan b is only for emergencies.
you should never take it too many times.
or else it's effects will soon wear off and your body will become more immune to it.
emergencies like: the condom breaking.. or not wearing a condom at all. haha.
oh hi.

Plan B is a contraception pill....it won't stop your period, it'll only delay it. Or at least it did for me the last 4-5 times i took it.
but honestly, anything that promotes "no period" i'd be a bit sketchy.

But as for "best" Birth control, it's best to go to your family doctor and talk to him/her about it. They know your health history vs. some random website that says "we'll guarantee you no period!" I actually never heard of Lybrel, i probably did but never looked into it. Any ways I'm on Alesse, which is one of the few low estrogen BC pills, due to my mom's record of having Breast Cancer.

oh... You still you get your period with Lybrel...guess a light flow.

What are other health benefits of birth control pills, including LYBREL?

In addition to preventing pregnancy, some information suggests that the use of oral contraceptives like LYBREL may provide certain other benefits, such as:

* Decreased blood loss, and less iron may be lost. Therefore, anemia due to a loss of iron may be less likely to occur.
* Cramps may occur less often.
* Ovarian cysts may occur less often.
* Ectopic (tubal) pregnancy may occur less often.
* Noncancerous cysts or lumps in the breast may occur less often.
* Acute pelvic inflammatory disease may occur less often.
* Oral contraceptive use may provide some protection against developing cancer of the ovaries and cancer of the lining of the uterus.

There's a birth control pill that reduces acne as well, I forgot the same of it though.
I took a course in Human sexuality and no one knows the consequences of these pills that stop your menstruation flow. Wouldn't one year of not menstruating mess up your body? I have having periods but, I don't know about the consequences of that yet.

no, it's called "birth control" pills for some reason mellow.gif
if you take it diligently everyday, you're protected.
Only when you missed more than 2 pills, your guy should wear a condom

i thought plan B can only be used for emergency situations
it's really bad if you take it a lot ?
any kind of birth control hormones is kinda risky
be prepared for some bad side effects

Like Bunnylicious said in the above post, you should be protected if you take it diligently and you don't miss pills. Other than that, it's still a good idea to have him ejaculate outside of you (especially if you have a lot of sex) unless you don't mind having all the gunk dry up inside you with no intention of having children...

You should use condoms if you don't know your partner's sexual history, haven't done blood tests to see if you're both healthy (and STD-free), or if you don't know your partner long enough to be confident that he/she isn't screwing around outside of your relationship. I'd only use birth control (pills, patch...) without a condom if I'm in a serious relationship where I know my partner is trustworthy and healthy. Use condoms (male condoms are generally more used than female condoms... but hey, whatever floats your boat) to protect yourself from STDs... because the others will only prevent pregnancy.

I'm with one guy so If I use birth control and don't miss I'm okay and use the with drawl method. i rather do that cause my bf complains he really doesn't like condoms.

WTH? Birth control pills don't protect you from stds. Double barrier method (two forms of protection) is safe. And even if your guy doen't cheat on you, that still doesn't mean that he knows he has any stds. He could have one from a long time ago and not know it, most stds are discrete.

^agreed...better safe than sorry. mellow.gif
Not having your period sounds bad to me...it's a natural cycle all women go through and I think you shouldn't mess with it. probably has bad long term effects too.

There is no scientific reason to have a period every month; that said, there are side effects to every birth control pill that you might want to look into, especially if you have a family history of high blood pressure and abnormal clotting. Birth control pills will increase the risk for heart attack and stroke, especially if you are over 35 and smoking. They may cause weight gain or loss, hormonal changes, etc. If you don't get a period, your chances of spotting increase. While on normal 28 day birth control pill, most women find that their periods are much lighter than usual and last for a shorter duration. Some doctors recommend you use back up birth control if your periods are irregular when you start birth control (as the effectiveness of starting birth control is usually measured by when you start taking it in relation to your period) for the first month. Birth control will not protect against STDs and HPV--which you cannot test for in men and may cause cervical cancer or genital warts. HPV is frequently symptomless and will only be detected through a pap smear. HPV can be transfered through any genital exposure. Before you start birth control, you and your boyfriend should both get blood tests for STDs and HIV (many of these tests are available free at clinics).

Plan B is a two-pill morning after contraceptive which works up to three days after having unprotected sex (though some sources say 5). It will make it impossible for any fertilized egg to implant and will usually force your body to have a period. It will usually be accompanied by bad cramps and general unpleasantness because it is a very strong dose of hormones--some doctors estimate 10 birth control pills (Aviane brand) equal the same as 2 Plan B pills. It is very bad for your body on a regular basis and should only be used in case of emergency.

You do need to get a doctor's prescription for all these pills and there are some people who are sensitive to hormones frequently used in most birth controls and must be prescribed different ones (don't remember the name, but I think it's called a mini-pill) so there is no guarantee that you will be able to take the no-period pills.

I would also like to add that there is absolutely no 100% safe birth control method other than abstinence. However, birth control and condoms are the best methods; as a result, many people opt to use both so as to make pregnancy pretty near impossible. I know a few 'miracle' babies myself so definitely don't rule out the possibility of pregnancy when you're on the pill.

Err.. that's what testing's for..

About the pill, I've done a lot of research on this stuff, and basically, when you're on the pill, you don't even get a "real" period anyway. It's hard to explain. (the pill blocks your body from making an egg, and remember, period bleeding is the nutrients and stuff that surrounds the egg, so if you don't have an egg, how do you have a real period eh?) But anyway that's why some pills can safely make you not bleed for months or a year - because being on any BC pill, it's not an actual period, just withdrawal bleeding from the inactive pills, and so you are not being harmed by missing your bleeding for months at a time. For those who worry that this harms you, you are being just as "harmed" by taking any kind of birth control - even ones that make you bleed monthly as you normally would.

I personally still take a pill that gives me "periods" monthly because there's less chance of spotting in between than the seasonal- or yearly-bleeding pills, and also bleeding every month is just sort of relieving in a way, to let you know you're not pregnant. Since obviously if the pill did fail and your body made an egg and you got pregnant, the bleeding would stop.

Anyway I'm not an expert or anything, but like I said for some reason I used to search online for this kind of information all the time and this is what I got out of it. You don't have to take what I said for 100% truth since I'm not a doctor.. ^^;
