I attend a highschool in Everett, MA. Great school and whatnot. I'm currently a Sophomore.
There's a city next to Everett, Malden. And i want to attend Malden High School, (for friends, social reasons, etc etc).

So that means i'd attend MHS for Junior and Senior Year.
Some one told me it would mess up my GPA?
Is that true?
Can some one please shed some light on the Cons of this? D: Because i really want to go. But i dont want to mess up school either D:

Haha, I'm in the exact same situation as you ^^;;
Well, first you should make sure what classes are available and what classes are required for rising Juniors at your new school, MHS.
If they differ than the courses at your current school, you might run into a few problems.
For example, in my current school, next year's required science class is physics for rising Juniors (I took Chem this year). The school I want to transfer to has rising Juniors taking Chem (and sophomores took Physics). So that's a big mess.
It might or might not mess up your GPA. It might even help it. It depends on how well you adjust and how quickly you can pick up the work. Is the MHS a lot more intensive then the school you currently go to?
You should also consider the school reps/ratings. It might not be the best idea to "downgrade" from a #15 school to a #38. Changing schools doesn't automatically mess up your GPA, but your switching right before Junior year, which is really risky, since most say it's the most important year and the most work intensive.
In my opinion, I think you'll be just fine if you really want to transfer, and you know that you can definitely work hard and stay motivated.
Best of luck! (:
quick note: This actually might get better/more replies if you posted it in Precollege. (:

im not sure, because it usually doesn't happen,
only if the school your going to doesn't have the
classes that you are taking in you current school.

Same here.
I'm a sophomore and next year I'm going to a new school.
No, it doesn't mess up your GPA.
I think you have to get your transcript to your new school though.
For the new school I'm going, it doesn't have any affect on my classes.
I'm not sure if it would affect your class depending on your school.

It can't mess up what you have now, but they might mess up your schedule for next year.
I moved schools (different districts too) for sophomore year and woww.. they really messed it up for me.
At my first school, I was supposed to be in AP Euro, Honors English 10, AP Chem (i took chem over summer school so i can take ap chem during the year), and JV Cheer. After I moved, I spoke with my counselor.. and she told me that I can't take ANY of my AP's or Honors classes since I missed registraition for those particular classes & the summer assignment & etc. I was obviouslyyyyy REALLLLLYYYYY upset, but I had to do something about it. What I learned was that I was the one who had to take initiative. The whole first week of school, lunch, snack, before school, after school, I was alll over the school talking to counselors, administrators, and other staff. Thankfullyyyyy I was able to redeem at least one of my APs (Euro) and got myself an individual ASB interview. (: Although I got AP Euro back, all the other classes that I deserved a chance to take, was taken away from me.
You reallllyyyyyyyyyy have to be careful with what your counselor does with your schedule.
Be on top of what is happening ALLLL THE TIME. Take initivative. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CLASSES THAT YOU KNOWWW YOU DESERVE TO TAKE. Seriously just talk around, send emails if you have to. Don't lose the chance of being in w/e class JUST because you moved.
Seriously, good luck with everything! I would have to say the moving during highschool is one of the hardest things to have to go throughh. (: Good luckkk!
Don't forget to be on top of your schedule & know what is happening with it! ^^

hellosally: i'm going to be changing schools this summer too, and i'll have to start my junior year at a brand new school. the thing is, i've already called the school (about 10923802980 times) about my placement in AP classes, and the summer hw required for them. Apparently there's no summer work, and they'll have to look at my transcript to see if I should be in those classes or not (I'm pretty confident about this one).

This means I'm good, right? I'm really worried that when school does start, I'll be put into regular classes! crazy.gif
I'm breaking my back but it's all good.
