Can someone help me? I've been couching for a month now, with it being completely normal a week ago. I didn't pay much attention to this, but my friends kept commenting on how that my coughs doesn't sounds too healthy. I'm completely fine, except for my throat.

Right now, my parents give me spoonfuls of cough medicine (my Dad even wanted me to drink the entire bottle >.>), but even that doesn't work. I have to eat extremely minty candies during tests, as not to disturb anyone else in my class. It's getting really annoying now.

What could cause this? I'm afraid of having some kind of contagious disease or I might die (overreaction, I know). Should I just go to a doctor? Is it even worth going?

I had that once for like six months straight. I went to the doctor because it was getting up to the point where I could barely even breathe. Turned out that I have seasonal allergies, haha :\ So he gave me some meds and a nasal spray and... yeah. It could probably be allergies for you, too? Just go see your doctor -- for sure to see if it could be anything else.

I would have gone to see a doctor a long time ago. Sounds like you have some sort of Bronchital symptoms. If it already hurts, isn't it common sense to go to a doctor instead of waiting?

Go to the doctor!
It could be anything..
If you have been taking medicine for more than a week, you definitely need to go see a doctor.
I hope you feel better!

You'd think that, right? But then I stopped coughing and it didn't hurt anymore, until now that is.

Thanks everyone, I'm gonna call the doctor tomorrow. smile.gif

Exercise seriously makes a big impact.
I had to go to the doctor in and out for 3 months and
continuosly coughing non-stop. It was so frustrating with
all the medicine and inhalers ... it just .. didn't seem to work.
Push comes to shove I decided to exercise and miraculousy
I started to cough less then sooner or later it completely cleared away

Just a toss up.

are you wheezing at all? i also had a ridiculously long cough a while back after my doctor prescribed me meds what he thot was strep throat. funny thing is, my throat culture came back clean! so he didn't really know what it was! long story short, antibiotics took care of the throat pain, but cough eventually went away after two months.

you should ask your doctor about asthma. it may be a possibility. irritation from allergens around you may be the culprit for your coughing.

get better soon!

I coughed for two months nonstop before I finally went to the doctor. It was bronchitis or something. And then I got it again, coughed for another two months before I went to the doctor (that time I waited because I was at college and couldn't go to the doctor until I went home). You should go to the doctor. If it's bronchitis it doesn't go away on it's own.

I got that this year and it was a pain. Just drink lots and LOTS of water. Drink hot lemonade, it helps. Also, mix water and salt together and just gurgle it in your mouth for about a minute each day. If you can't breathe, just spit it out and put another mouth full. Careful, don't put too much salt in the water or else it will damage the insides of your mouth. I hope this helped! (:

yeah i was in your situation, but mine reacted fast.

It first started as a normal sore throat, then a week later i started to cough constantly with runny nose and high fever. Then for 3 weeks, I couldn't speak and I was making wheezing sounds.

I went straight to the doctor and got a MRI scan. Turns out that I had bronchitis and just gave me medications and cough syrup. Before I know it, I was healed within a weak.

Go to the doctor and good luck!

Visit a doctor. Consistent coughing for long periods could cause harm to your throat.
It could also mean some sought of throat infection.

What type of cough is it?
Do you have phlegm which cause you to itch, or sore throats?

I was coughing for months also wasnt sick, my antie got mad saying I should go doctor. Funny thing was they didnt know what was wrong, so they sent me to get x-rays to see if there was something wrong with my lungs, nothing was wrong it was normal. The doctor just gave me pills like claritin, they saying it was allergies.

AAHH! AHH!! GO TO YOUR DOCTOR!!!! especially if that cough medicine isn't working...and don't drink the whole bottle! lol overdose x____x

i had coughs for the whole summer last year. if you start wheezing, it could be bronchitis. it can happen if u had allergies or any throat infection or flu recently. (i'm coughing now again)

ur doctor can give u sumthing like an inhaler w/ albuterol in it. it helps with the cough.
bronchitis is like tat, u don't feel sick at all its just your throat and u keep coughing ...and sumtimes u can cough so much that ur stomach hurts or u have trouble breathing (like every breathe u take in u just wanna cough out)

u shuld go to see doctor asap, bc the longer coughs develops, the longer it might take to get better..and bronchitis can come back so take care!!

......................

wtf..this was in jan...lol i hope ur all better NOW

a couple of years ago, i got the same thing, and my coughs were really dry (not the type of mucous-y cough you get when you have a cold), and it lasted for 1 whole year O_O I went to the doctor, tried different sorts of medication, and nothing remedied it. My grandma started making me ginger tea, and it went away blink.gif So, for me, ginger tea is the solution for many ailments haha 8D It's also great for sore throat~

Have you had any fevers or just coughing? If you have had a fever, and you've been coughing for a month, it can be extremely serious. Go see a doctor just to check if you can get treatment of something to quell your coughing.

OH my gosh that happened to me a few months ago from late feb. to the middle of march.
so definitely about 3-4 weeks.
Had a fever the first time, then ear infection at the same night. I was freezing !
I was drinking a load of cough medicine, so i went to the doctor and turns out i had bronchitis, which was tadly strange blink.gif since i don't have asthma or anything. But i think it was due to diving from the swim team.
i hope my information helps
