It's official Sam Raimi has revealed that the filming of Spider-Man 4 will commence in February.

The director also admitted that there were many changes he would like to go back and fix about the 2007 third installment of the superhero franchise, First Showing reports.

"What would I have done differently? I would have done everything differently, every single shot," he told the Los Angeles Times.

He claimed that he wants to do the webslinger cinematic justice this time around.

"I want to make the best [Spider-Man movie] of the bunch and I've always been touched by Peter Parker in a way that I've never been able to describe on film, even though I've got a great actor performing it."

The script for the fourth film in the franchise is being written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, while Raimi expects to have the first draft by mid-June.

Actress Kirsten Dunst is reportedly willing to sign on for the film, based upon the strength of the screenplay.

Raimi added that he's about to hire a "production skeleton," and hopes to have the film ready for its May 6, 2011 release date.

Tobey Maguire has already confirmed of doing the 4th installment.

Ahh, im so happy. Its so weird cause the other day i was talking to my sister and asked do you think they'll have a movie 4 and she was like i doubt it and now seeing this thread makes me so happy. And im glad tobey is already confirm and lets hope kristen will agree after the whole screenplay thingy <3 ahhh im so excited, and make it the best movie ever? please do, the 3rd one was quite disappointing, please dont disappoint us again, ....but gosh 2011 is so far away D;

The talk of redeeming Spidey's film rep better not be just a marketing ploy to get me to the theatres. Spider-Man 3 was so bad....though really LULZtastic for all the wrong reasons. Despite what Raimi says about making the best Spidey movie ever or what not, it's pretty much guaranteed that this movie will make a lot of money. After all, it's Spider-Man.

I'm also a bit surprised to hear that Sam Raimi and Tobey and (most likely) Kirsten are back on for the fourth film. They all seemed a bit tired of being part of the franchise, but I guess the money is good as well as spending time away from Spider-Man made their hearts long for it again?

Oh thank goodness. I was praying they were NOT going to end Spiderman with... the monstrosity that was Spiderman 3.
I just wonder how they are going to redeem it all... Either way, I can't wait. Spiderman's my favorite and I actually really like Sam Raimi's directing, he did a good job on the first two :3
