for the past few weeks my lips have become really chapped and sore. people have asked me if im feeling okay/if im sick cause my lips arent really pink anymore, theyve become like a white-ish color? (its like when people get sick in korean dramas and their lips become white) at first i thought it was because of the sudden weather changes (from hot to cold and back to hot). then i thought it was because i wasnt drinking enough water or maybe because my sleeping pattern has been thrown way off (because of school) and so im tired.
also, in addition to my lips being extremely chapped, there seem to be sore-like areas on my lips now. ive been using burts bees for a couple of years now and its always worked for me, but these days it HURTS when i put it on. the only thing that seems to work is vaseline, but i dont have a travel size so i can only apply it when im home (which isnt that often cause of school/work/hanging out/etc). but sometimes after a couple of minutes (after putting vaseline on) the vaseline no longer feels thick, but instead it feels watery. (once i woke up because there were actual drops of water[?] running down my lips) when i wake up in the morning my lips are dry and dry skin has accumulated on the top and bottom of my lips to the point where i have to like scrape it off and as a result, it feels like i just ripped scabs off and they burn whenever i try to apply any kind of lip balm.
so soompiers, does anyone know whats wrong? what can i do to make it better? ive asked my mom and she says that it should get better if i keep putting vaseline on and drinking enough water. in my opinion (worst case senario) is that maybe its some kind of STD?! i am sexual active, but its with one person whom ive been in a relationship with for three years, so unless hes doing something i dont know about (which i highly doubt cause he doesnt seem to be exhibiting any symptoms) it cant be that.
HELPPPPP! and thanks for reading (:

This has happened to me a few times and it only lasts a week or two. Avoid peeling your lips because it hurts even more and since vaseline works for you, keep using it. Keep drinking water and sleeping at least 8 hours. There's not much to say because it usually goes away within a week. You should try moisturizing around your lip instead of scraping it because it's only going to get worse. (I've peeled at it before and it only made it worse because it hurt so much.)
I'm pretty sure it's not an STD because I'm not sexually active and it's happened a few times to me. But it has stopped these past years because everyday before I go to sleep I apply chapstick.

This happened to me a couple of years ago when I unconsciously only drank 1 glass of water a day. I suggest that you keep drinking more water (more than you regularly drink). If the vaseline is working then you should keep using it. Blistex Lip Medex worked better for me. I think a regular drug store (Rite aid, CVS, Walgreens, etc) would stock the small jars of vaseline. If not try a beauty store, that was where I got my last jar. I suggest that even if you can't constantly apply the vaseline when you're out apply some kind of moisturizer even if its regular lotion.

this is strangely happening to me right now..
i just woke up one morning and BAM my lips were dry and the corner of my lips were cut and chapped
i highly doubt it's an STD, but what i'm doing now is drinking water and moisturizing it as much as possible. I think it has something to do with the weather because it's been warm and cold lately and it's also allergy season.
but my lips aren't white, it's still pigmented so idk about that..
but moisturize and stop picking at it

We must have misplaced the scene where love conquers all.
It conquers ALL.
It conquers ALL.

Try using Lip Medex Company: Blistex . You can get it at shoppers or probly some other drug mart. lol It's really nice and refreshing I stopped using burts because after awhile it becomes weird for me o.o. It's pretty pricey now for a small thing but worth it bout 5 dollars? For your lips; it'll probly take 3-5 days until it's healed using this o: The blue one btw : )
