I am a girl and I shake people's hands when I first meet them. It has been a habit for a year now. I'm willing to stop if its 'too much' for acquaintances to handle.

FYI: I do offer hand shakes no matter the setting (casual/work)

>Is that weird?
>Is that intimidating for guys?
>Do girls find it bean pie?

__________Bottom Line___________

How would YOU feel about that person who offers handshakes?

I'm a girl. I almost always shake hands with someone (girl or guy) when I first meet them. Its been a habit for the last 2 years. I don't get why people find it weird to shake hands.

i don't like shaking hands.
it's awkward.

but when someone holds out their hand, i shake it.

or if i have to.. like meeting the boss or something, i do.

but normally, i just wave and say hi.
even though they're about a foot away from me.

but for friends, i usually hug.
none of that shaking hands nonsense.
oh hi.

Shaking hands is a definite yes. I guess I was brought up that way. Utmost form of respect when you meet someone.

I don't shake hands ... I find it awkward
Unless the person holds their hand out, I be polite and shake it xD

Usually, its hugs and those kiss on the cheeks thing ... (which I find very intimidating when its a guy) LOL

I don't shake hands, but when people hold out their hand, I shake it and just take it as a form of politeness.

I don't shake hands unless they offer their hand to shake mines. I normally just do a little wave and smile saying Hi.

Well, handshaking is definitely the proper way to greet someone in a formal or business setting.

It really depends on your age in other situations I guess? If you're young, perhaps in the under 20 years old range, it might come off a little strange to some people if they're in the same age group as you. But I don't think anyone would really be that ignorantly judgmental by thinking something like "Wow, this person shakes hands as a greeting....what a complete weirdo."

Personally I don't really shake hands with people around my age group because I wasn't raised to do that. I only shake hands with people at my accounting program because they're all adults and formal business(wo)men at the firm. Although if I ever met someone (who's in high school) who shook hands with me as a greeting, I would automatically think they're an awesome person from first impressions. xD Maybe that's just me.

In a professional setting shaking hand is a must but if your talking about casually like in school people don't do that

shaking hand is fine..
but not toooo much.

when someone extend their hand, then do it also,
but if they don't, just give your best smile.

if they're male, i always shake their hand no matter what situation.
if they're female, i'll only shake they're hand if it's work-related or they're older than me. if i'm just being introduced to a friends friend, i won't.

I shake hands when i first meet people, like my friend formally introducing me to their friends if its less than like 4 people then ill shake their hands if theres like 10 of them its more better to just say "hi" and a little wave + smile. I mean you're not gonna shake hands 10 times thats kinda weird. LOL!

Depends on situation and timing, normally, I would. 'Its a lot of respect and shows that you're well mannered', direct quote from my mother.

Shaking hands with people you first meet is okay but yea.. it rly annoys me when a friend comes up to me and shakes my hand as a greeting. It's so lame.
