1. I took SAT II Bio in 9th grade, and got a 750. Obviously it's not a bad score, but nor is it really stellar. im taking AP bio in junior year, should I retake it? or should i spend my time studying for something else? BTW I'm not planning to go into science field in the future.

2. I'm currently a sophomore. In the summer, I'm planning to either take a statistics course in nearby community college or try my best to skip precalc honors (which i would normally take in junior year).
honestly, i dont know if i even have the chance to skip precalc. and even if i get in, i would be taking 5 APs in junior year. which would basically kill me lol although i suppose colleges would see that as a plus.
if i dont get in though, that means i wasted most of my summer sad.gif

taking a statistics course would give me 3 credits toward graduation. basically i would have a pretty easy summer that i could fill up with a job, volunteering, etc.

please help me! what would you do in my case?

it depends on what college you're applying to.
if you're applying to ivies, then you would probably want to retake your SATII Bio.
I wouldn't recommend skipping pre-calc since material is pretty tough and you kindof need it for calc. but if you think you can handle it, go for it. besides, even in you don't get in, you'll be more prepared for junior year. smile.gif

if you're applying to UCs (maybe this applies to other state schools?)
you don't need to take 5 APs. absolutely not. seriously, it's insane. tons of people just take 3 or 4 APs junior year and still get into UCB and UCLA. remember, GPA outweighs course load, so you have to maintain a good GPA even if you're taking a boatload of APs. it doesn't look good to take 5 APs and get like all Bs in them.
since you're not planning to go into science, you don't need to retake Bio, but if you have time, it wouldn't hurt.

about stats...yeah, why not? it won't hurt.
personally, I'm not taking it over the summer because it's a pretty easy course at my school and I'd rather have more time during the summer than spend 6 weeks at summer school.

hope I helped!

I'm international so I don't know much about Ap's but I think it's absolutely spectacular that you got 750 in bio as a freshman in hs! I would definitely not retake it again and just include that score when you send it as a way to show your dream colleges what a prodigy you are.

thank you for taking the time and replying.
yukiko_komatsu, my highschool is ridiculously competitive, its not that unusual for freshmen here to get 780's and 800's. bah. thank you though, you certainly raised my self esteem.
christee8876, i guess youre right. i talked it over with my parents the other day, and we decided that i should take it again. im not specifically aiming for ivies, but i do want something up there heh. my counselor was like "..yeah just try skipping it and take all 5 aps" idkk. i need to think about this some more.
good luck to both of you in the future smile.gif
