I actually think I gained more weight after moving off campus and relying on instant foods. Must hit the gym more!

chances are that the Freshman 15 will happen to you.
I've heard that Ra is a fan of fondue parties.

so yeah i think gaining weight, especially from stress + other factors in college, is most likely to happen... unless you can really control your eating.

it was mainly to do with living away from my parents, long hours, and all those late night maccas runs...

this also happens in high school too. at least that's what i think. i entered high school last year pretty average...and i gained about 15-20 pounds after freshman year. D: it's horrible since i my high school is in downtown and it's literally surrounded by fast food chains D: aigoooo.
but definitely not a myth. since my cousin gained so much right after her freshman year in college XD

For me, it was because my dorm room was above a big cafeteria. There were huge selections to choose from (fried chicken, fries, steak, pizza, cookies, cake, smoothies...etc). Basically there was TONS of unhealthy choices and it was so easy because you get these pre-paid "money points" on your uni ID card! So I ate there almost everyday. I never think about what I because I naturally have a high metabolism but my body couldn't metabolize fried chicken and steak everyday I guess! Also I didn't have a car my freshmen year so I walked to class, which made me really hungry when I get back to my dorm. That plus extremely high calorie foods do not mix...couldn't burn off enough calories with just walking I guess!
I also think I stress eat! Usually at home I eat til I'm like 80% full and I stop naturally cuz I get tired of eating (lol), but at college I ate even though I'm full >_<;; Plus you have a lot of freedom and your friends will invite you to eat out all the time! I did... now I'm 10 lbs heavier and still trying to loose it! FYI... Losing weight is tough. I give props to everyone who can endure it.

I actually weigh less than I did in high school and I'm gonna be a college junior in the Fall. I think it's because at home, my mom prepares huge meals at least four times a day with very filling "snacks" in between meals. Sooo much food. But at school, I eat when I'm hungry and with MUCH smaller portions throughout the day. It really makes a difference. That and I have access to the gyms at school. In the end, it's what you make of your time at college that determines whether or not you will gain the extra pounds.

There were lots of people who gained ~15lbs, but there was also a number of people who lost ~15lbs.
Unfortunately, I was in the latter group (I went from 103lbs to 92lbs o_o). Luckily, I'm home, so I'm going to try to get everything back.
