So.. I have skinny legs already but I just want to tone them a bit.
I've heard running fast for a short period of time will create big calves while running long distance at a slow pace won't?
Is this true? I don't want big calves but I just want to prevent it from happening.

so my current workout regimen is:
running for 45 min 4x a week, lifting weights for 30 min 2x a week, and resting 1 day.
Is lifting weights required to get a toned body?
also, for running, I first start out walking and a light jog for 2 min, and run in 10 intervals for 4 min and rest for 1 min.

Is this a good workout regimen?
I also want to lose a little stomach fat and get abs.

sorry this is really detailed wink.gif
really appreciate any help. thanks

I think that's right? My boyfriend is a long distance runner (like three miles everyday), and he has HUGE thighs, but his calves are really lean. Maybe that's just his body, though.

EDIT+ Actually, his thighs aren't huge when you look at them, just when he flexes. Don't mean to scare you. smile.gif

Search for calf exercises on the internet. Personally, I suggest doing squats with heavy weights and doing calf raises whenever you can. The latter is very easy to do, and very convenient.

looks good. make sure when you are lifting weights that you do a lot of compound exercises (those that work out more than 1 body part) such as pushups, clean n press, squats, lunges, etc. I'd stick to around 15-20 reps for your goals with 3x sets
