Do they do practice during school class hours?
How much practice do they do before/after school?
How much time should be set aside to practice at home?
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days?
Do they still meet and practice after season is over?
Thanks.

and to answer the rest of your questions.
1. No. Academics come first.
2. idk about female sports, but usually before school, they do some weight works for maybe an hour. after school, practices last 2 maybe 3 hours.
3. if you intend for your daughter to get better, maybe set aside 1-2 hours a day to work on some ball handling and shooting technique.
4. usually, high school games are 4, 8 minute quarters.
4a. it depends on how many games they play through the season. i think its 1-2 games during the school week and 1 on the weekend.
5. it depends on the coach to determine whether off season practices are held. more often than not, it is unlikely, unless they have a summer league.

one thing to note is that your daughter will be exhausted after practice and it may be hard to get her to try to do hw then. so i'd say have a nice family meal once she comes home and then send her straight to do homework, but check on her to see if she's staying awake.

No, practice is after school.
How much practice do they do before/after school?
About 2-3 hours... more if you're playing stronger opponents.
How much time should be set aside to practice at home?
Depends how dedicated you are & how much time is available... practice on the weekends!
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days?
Games are after school, weekdays and twice a week unless you have a bye week. Games last about an 1.5 to 2 hours more or less... either 8mins quarters or 30min halfs.
Do they still meet and practice after season is over?
Depends on the team... when I was in highschool I joined a summer league after the season was over.
I stayed after school and tried to get some of my homework done before practice and finish the rest of it when I got home.
My team also played in Saturday Leagues so every other Saturday or so we scrimmage against another team and work on our plays.
This is from my personal experience in highschool playing JV and Variety basketball.

Do they do practice during school class hours?
No, academic performance is always a priority over academics no matter what level the school team is. Usually schools have some sort of regulation where athletes have to maintain a minimum gpa or else they cannot continue to be a part of school teams.
How much practice do they do before/after school?
It depends on the level of the team, it would be a good idea to ask your daughter's coach what sort of plans he/she has for the basketball team. Practices are usually held after school for 2-3 hours. 2 hours for drills and 1 hour for the weight room and additional exercises. My high school required both jv and varsity teams to attend practice everyday of the week except for sundays and game days.
How much time should be set aside to practice at home?
I don't think it is required to set aside time to practice at home. Unless your daughter is serious about basketball and competes with a state team or nationally or wants to participate in collegiate sports, she should just play basketball when she wants to outside of practice and games.
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days?
This depends on the rules of the league or organization the team participates in. You could have anywhere from 1-2 games a week to 1 every two weeks or something else. I personally had matches almost every wednesday and saturday.
Do they still meet and practice after season is over?
Once again it depends on how serious the teams+coach are. I don't think the average team will have practices during off season. If your daughter finds that she really likes basketball and doesn't have a chance to play after the season is over, see if there are any Club teams/leagues she can join or have her go play pick up basketball at your local YMCA or gym.

Do they do practice during school class hours?
No but for some games that are far away they may release your kid early from school sometimes, I've had that happen before no biggie
How much practice do they do before/after school?
2-3 hours everyday after school, in our HS only the swim team practices BEFORE school starts, it depends on how serious the school is about a certain sport
How much time should be set aside to practice at home?
It's really your self preference, I'm busy with my sport all year round and practice almost every day of the week or atleast every other day so I barley touch a ball at home and not much you can practice at home with alone
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days?
In school we have the most 3 games a week, average is 2 with the occasional 3 a week to fit games in. A game of mine would usually last up to 2 hours because in volleyball (varsity) we could end up playing 5 games I barley had weekend games unless they were tournament's which we usually left around 7am for and came back in the mid afternoon
Do they still meet and practice after season is over?
Again depends on how serious the school is about the sport and the coaches preference too, we usually have open gym's which aren't mandatory practices but you can still come to play with some other girls since volleyball practice is limited to a single person alone

Do they do practice during school class hours?
I had practices before school at like 7am and after school until 5pm and sometimes during lunch
How much practice do they do before/after school?
I practiced 2 - 3 days a week
How much time should be set aside to practice at home?
you set you own limit depending what you need to work on. different sports differ as some sports are easier to practice and convenient than others.
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days?
The school board makes the schedule and you will get the season's schedule when you make the team. I always played after school and not weekends maybe once for tournament.
Do they still meet and practice after season is over?
After the season and ofsaa we just go back to normal life until try-outs for following year
i guess it is more strict in usa than canada cause i remember watching coach carter...anyways i wasn't so bright in high school and was actually failing 1 or 2 course during the season and ended up with a 60% ish average

How much practice do they do before/after school? there's no practice before school, but school ends at 2.30, and practice ends at 5.30 (so 3 hours), there's also Saturday morning 9-12 practice, Sunday is rest time
How much time should be set aside to practice at home? errr a lot of people don't really practice at home because they get 6 days a week already..
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days? I think games were kinda scattered, there'd be like 2~3 every week or so? (don't remember) but the junior varsity and varsity had to stay for both games, so it's kinda double time
Do they still meet and practice after season is over? no, we still meet up SOMETIMES (rarely) just to hang out, but it's not for sports
don't forget to remind her that education > sports
I know that if you get lower than a C average on any of your courses, you're kicked out of the team, so make sure she's not slacking
also, this is for volleyball, but I'm assuming it's generally the same for all sports

Do they do practice during school class hours?
Rarely because I do have other classes and since sport is a extra curricular activity, it doesn't really happen for me during school.
How much practice do they do before/after school?
3+ hours and this is OFF season for me.
How much time should be set aside to practice at home?
My coach always says, 40-60. 40 at practice, 60 at home.
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days?
It's usually about an hour per game. And it really depends.
Do they still meet and practice after season is over?

Nope, unless it's a game/meet/race and it's far away then they might need to leave during lunch or whatnot. But it's the whole team. Varsity and JV leave together. But usually the events are afterschool or on saturdays depening on your sport.
How much practice do they do before/after school?
Depends on the sport. Usually the average is an hour and a half. The extra time would probably be because they need to hold a meeting or whatnot.
How much time should be set aside to practice at home?
Personally, I am a pretty hardcore workout enthusiast. (paradox) but yeah, if I am not doing anything and no one is talking to me i'd go into my room and go all out on my pushups crunches and planks and stuff. if it's on the weekend I might go to the gym and do some weights alone. I don't enjoy going with a friend because i usually freak them out...LOL
And what about games - How much time must be set aside for the games? Is it almost every weekend, or during school days?
Depends on the sport. Like, cross country has their races on the weekend. Usually the games are during the weekday though. Either right after school or about dinner time.
Do they still meet and practice after season is over?
The people who are really devoted would still meet and practice after the season is over. There's a thing called hell week which previous players/members attend to shape up for the season.
