What Does Money Mean To You?

its not that I believe that you should die poor, but what I'm saying is that you don't take that money with you when your dead.
But I believe that my belief shouldn't apply to everyone, this is just me.
Again, my opinion only applies to me.

And I feel as if it's fine to indulge ever so often. You only live once. Of course, have some savings as well in case of emergencies. You never know when the next disaster may happen. And also, the wealthy should give back to the community and the poor... but if everyone was poor and never strove to be wealthy or rich, how could they sympathize with us? I feel as if you're basically preaching to the poor to stay in their position and never inspire the poor to rise from their situation but instead stay there and wait for assistance.
I don't know... money isn't everything, but unfortunately, it does make the world go round. But definitely do not go for a job for the money because you'll always be miserable. Find a passion!
And I understand your feel that we shouldn't be too materialistic, but to me, I feel as if it's a black and white issue. We're all materialistic aren't we? The fact that we have internet, a computer, a TV, cable, earrings, those nice pairs of shoes, etc. Could we live without them? Sure, but we choose not to. *shrugs*

It's not everything to me, but it does mean a lot.
That, and it buys a certain level of happiness.
I am definitely not one of those people who will sacrifice my happiness to get money-- i.e.: get a job a I really hate, but stay in it just because it pays me a lot of money. My friends are so unhappy with their majors right now, but the only thing that's motivating them are the big paychecks they might make in the future.
For me, it'd be nice to make a lot of money doing what I love, LOL. Everyone's dream.
But it's possible.
I have to shamefully admit, I am a bit materialistic, but I've gotten A LOT better as I got older.
But in high school and the first two years of college-- I was a brat. World riches was all that I cared about.

Money is far from everything, more does not guarantee more happiness. It's all what you individually make of it. We must learn to cherish our resources to be truly satisfied with life...
At least, that's my 0.02.

Its your greed and natural need to live what keeps you living to make money. Lets face it if food didn't cost money and your basic needs were given to you for free then you wouldn't be so driven. You also wouldn't have much power or control. The importance of money is only view and judge by society standards. Without money we don't have a society or nations but with it we have wars and social class.
there are some countries that are worth the economic bloom but still suffer from hunger and poverty. Areas such as Africa, India and southeast Asia. Were the population numbers is some 20% are rich and 70% are poor. The poor work in factors making little only to feed their families. Money gives people a hope of better lives even though it promise nothing. Money gives people the hope of change for the next generation to reap from.
So money to me is an evil I must have in my life in order to establish an existence that will live for tomorrow. I don't want my kids struggle like I'm struggling now. I want them to reap my rewards but they to will have the constant worry about money. All I can do is provide the seeds from them to grow on. So if it mean going to school and working a job for the next 30 some plus years. So they can have food in their bellies and roof over their head then I'm willing to suffer that mundane way of living.

o_O' it's not any direct value to me, but it does have value to others.
that's why it's valuable to me. i can trade it for things i want/need.
_ but eh. i don't like the idea that people think money is what keeps people alive. food does. water does.

but money is also a powerful source of greed. it can be the basis of dominance over those who do not have the pleasure of enjoying money.
it's good and of course, bad. that's what i think
