Okay so I took the ACTS today and omg.. i don't think i did well. Not b/c the material was hard.. but the proctor and the environment.

So i went to a HS that was kinda close to where I live to take the ACTS, and guess what? THERE WAS NO WORKING CLOCKS!

How can you be qualified to be a testing center for a national exam and not have ANY WORKING CLOCKS??!!

I raised my hand and asked if there were any working clocks
and the Proctor just said there isn't (she basically just shrugged it as if its normal)
How can you try to "beat the clock" when you don't know what time it is? How can you pace yourself if you can't see the time?

And so she started to read the directions and said something like "I will tell you when you have 5 minutes left to finish the section"
So i asked her "Can you tell us when we have 10 minutes left to finish the section since we don't have a clock to look at?"
and she said: "No, I am not required to" (or something of the like)

WTF

So that I started my test wanting to cry/scream/burn the testing center down. Great way to start huh?
Oh and the walls were probably made of paper because I could hear the other proctors giving directions. It was so distracting!

Oh yeah during the science section (which was probably the most tedious and hardest sections b/c of the mad hard charts to read), my proctor forgot to tell us we had only 5 minutes left! Just swell.

I always wear a watch to exam because I'm usually too far away from the clock to see without my glasses.

Even though there are high schools closer than my high school, i still choose my high school
cause i realize that i do better in environments i'm used to.
but wow...that must've sucked. =[
I always wear a watch so i never really use the classroom's.

...they don't even give you a 10-min warning? =O My SAT proctor did it without request.

"I wouldn't walk a thousand miles for him...I'd run."

i still go to my hs to take exams, which is a 15min bus ride, rather than walking to a nearby school since it's supposedly better to take your test in an environment that you already know/are comfortable with.

my proctor for the SAT was okay. though sometimes i get the feeling that she didn't know what she was doing o_O & her accent made it kinda hard to understand what she was saying sometimes. i had ended up in the wrong room before and the proctor there told me to just get out. i think he was suppose to call someone in the hallway to take me to the right room though sleep.gif

I would definitely have taken the ACTs at my school if they offered it, but they didn't.
I took my SATs at my school though, which i liked loads better.

haha most proctors probably don't even know what they are doing. they're probably just reading off the booklet they get.
I get a feeling that most proctors just want to be finish and leave. I swear all my proctors packed and got ready to leave before the last section was over. XD

awe dang, that sucks! i can't leave the house without my watch, but if i hadn't had one during the ACT (you need to watch the clock more for the ACT rather than the SAT!), i would've died man. i'm super slow to begin with, haha. i took the june ACT too, and my proctor was actually really chill. she was a laid-back gym coach so she made the testing environment a lot less tense, which made everyone less nervous, haha.
