all the instructors are friendly old guys most of the time, once in awhile you get a young gen field coach in training lol.

both my instructors were like 25ish and the class instructors were 35-ish im a horrible judge at age but the one instructor said he was 23, actually he looked kind of like harry potter lol.
anyway : to anyone i have a helmet sizing question,
I want to get the scorpion exo-700 so i went to the store to try it on I can fit a xl (yeah i got a big ol head) but it feels tight, I tried the xxl and it feels better but the guy at the store said the inner lining /padding should compress. Thats all good but in the XL i cant fit my glasses though the helmet.. is it too small ? will my glasses fit if I wear it around the house enough ? I will probably try on different brands this week, maybe scorpion doesn't fit my head shape.

lol too much info...
anyway, I went to another shop to try on the 700 again and XL seems to fit ok since it will loosen up a bit and the main reason it feels so tight are the cheekpads which I can replace with a larger size if necessary... and I somehow got my glasses in. I used to wear contacts in middle school but they're annoying, I still have like 2 pairs. im going to buy the silver burst helmet I kinda wanted red/black but red doesn't match...

im probably going to get a jacket and some gloves soon... im currently wearing my dads leather jacket and its freaking heavy and rediculously hot inside.

i would try different model and brand of helmet, arai tend to fit people with smaller head better shoei etc on the other hand fits better for people with bigger head, some model fit square.. some oval...try different ones.
i wear a arai rx7 its loud and noisy but vent is good, and fits my head perfect, but when i try on sunomy (which runs 1 size smaller) my head hurt like hell.. and shoei fit is not snug

not necessarily FLAT on the ground but generally you should be able to maneuver the bike without struggling to keep it up. I can get most of my feet down but not the heel of my foot. You could also try putting one foot completely down and keep the other one on the peg. other options are seat shaving, lowering links and of course high boots.

I've been checking on deals for an '04 yellow r-600 for a couple months now, and found one that's exactly what I was looking for. If I hadn't seen this bike, I probably wouldn't have thought about buying one, because I've been going back and forth on whether I should get one or not because it is really a hobby that demands respect.
Anyways, about the bike...
There's been two previous owners and a light scuff mark on the bottom right side fairing (although it's almost invisible unless you're a foot in front of it), and a few minor scratch marking on the frame sliders (but that's what they're for right?), but everything else is in good condition.
The bike overall is in great condition, it only has 6400~ miles on it, and there are no signs of abuse (no worn tires, parts are stock except for frame sliders, yellow leather seats to match scheme, tail lights, and a yoshimura carbon fiber exhaust. I sat on the bike and the shocks felt good, the tires are still fresh with a lot of tread on them, brake pads and brakes are pristine, and I rocked the bike a little and checked the brakes to see if they caught well. Also I bounced the bike a little and checked for leaks and there were none that I could see.
I took the state of IL motorcycle class, passed, and have gotten my license, but that was back in April and I haven't been on a bike since. What's even worse is, that the moto class used 250cc bikes and I've never driven a 600cc bike. I'm honestly really scared! I'll be practicing doing figure 8's and 'looking through my turns' and trying to remember all the basics before I drive in normal roads and through traffic. I don't want to be stupid riding this bike because through the class, I really started to understand how dangerous riding is. Plus, the 250cc bike I practiced on felt powerful enough... I can't imagine how sensitive the 600cc throttle will be!
That's why I'm going to be riding with gear: helmet, jacket, boots (or at least ankle covering shoes), and gloves.
I'm hesitant to buy pants, even though I know jeans will burn through within the first 3 inches of sliding if that happens, but I have no idea where I would put them if I were to ride somewhere. I could deal with holding onto the jacket, but I don't want to be walking around in biker pants everywhere I go!
I'll post pictures when I get the bike on Saturday.
Welcome me to the club!

hey guys, I'm getting the '04 gsxr 600 in yellow this Saturday.

you have 0 street riding experience and you're getting a gsxr for your first bike ? I personally would go smaller, I have now been riding a ninja 250 for a month and a half now and its fast enough for the streets. I rode a cbr600 and its a monster I would be scared to ride it until I got some more miles on the 250. I would look at the smaller 600 bikes like ninja 650, sv650, fz6r at the least... I don't know how old you are but insurance is probably going to be ridiculous.
I don't understand, it seems like you don't really want or need a super sport and you do realize its dangerous... You can buy a used 250 for like 2000 bucks (if you dont mind the pre-gen looks) ride it for a month or two and easily make all your money back. your choice though, alot of people have learned on a super sport although its probably not the easiest way.

yeah, I'm going to be taking it very slow for a while. I'm thinking that I will only drive it around my neighborhood and the local roads around me for this season. There's not much time left before it starts to get wicked cold in Chicago
I have a buddy who has a bike and she's fairly new to to it too (3 years). She rides conservatively, so I'm thinking I'll ride with her so I don't have to ride with db's who want me to ride past my limits.
I think I might get some knee guards, but they wouldn't really protect my skin from road rash
I'll decide if I should get it when I actually get on the bike and practice in the parking lot.
Thanks!

Yeah, I thought about it for a while, but there's two things that's stopped me from looking at 250cc bikes. They are VERY hard to sell once I want to upgrade, and I eventually want to ride it to work, which is about an hour of driving on highways. I know it's capable of handling higher speeds, but it's going to be working HARD.
I just turned 25 now and I've never been in any prior accidents nor have I gotten a speeding ticket in my 9 years of driving. Plus, I successfully passed the state motorcycle class, so although it'll be more expensive than getting a 250cc or a cruiser, it won't break the bank.

Anyways, for all you riders, what kind of insurance do you have? I'm thinking of getting full coverage, especially since it will be my first year.
