Ok, I'm confused about how the number characters are used. For numbers like time and things like that, regular numbers are used. But I don't know what it means when the character for one is used, not as a number....since they're rarely used as real numbers anymore....oy~

And I need random vocabulary to be thrown at me, ha ha!! Any word that anyone knows, I guess. ^^

But how do you know which tone to use when you say things like le and ma? When I try to memorize the rules, it's really confusing....

and the tone, just basically have to memorize it, make it your second nature? =v=

word　of the day: 哈 "ha1"
it's literally "ha"
so if you go 哈哈哈 it's "hahaha" which is basically laughing

You mean one word with different uses/meaning??

le = le4 (了)
ma = ma1 (吗)
i guess you're talking about this...

xD just watch more Chinese dramas and memorize their pronouciation

Wang xiansheng zuotian wanshang chifan gao xiao jie
Zuo tian, Wang Xian Sheng ching gao xiao jie chifan. ("ching" means to invite)

either : Zuo tian, Wang xian sheng qing Gao xiao jie chi fan. (it's actually "qing" instead of "ching")
or : Wang xian sheng zuo tian qing Gao xiao jie chi fan.

3. do you want to watch a movie tomorrow night?
my answer:
Ni mingtian kan dian ying ma? < you didn't imply if you want to watch a movie or not.
Ni mingtian shang bu shang kan dian ying ma? ("shang bu shang" = do you want)

either : Ni ming tian xiang bu xiang kan dian ying? (it's actually "xiang". you can forgo "ma" at the end)
or : Ni ming tian xiang kan dian ying ma?

4. Mr. Wang wants to take Lawyer Zhang to a movie.
i have no idea o.0
Wang Xian Sheng shang dai Zhang luo shu chi kan dian ying. (I don't think I got the "chi" pinyin right, but it's meant to mean to go)

Wang xian sheng xiang qing Zhang lǜ shi kan dian ying. ( you can forgo 'dai' as when you say "qing" to pay for or invite, actually means you are already accompany him/bringing him. btw, it is 'qu' instead of 'chi' =) i realise one pinyin cannot appear. its actually a u with two dots on top )

5. I do not like foreign movies. I only like American movies.
my answer::
wo bu xihuan waiguo dian ying. Wo zhi xihuan meiguo dian ying

6. I think this chinese movie is very interesting.
my answer::
wo xiang zhege zhong guo dian ying you yisi

Wo jue de zhe ge dian ying hen you qu. ( we do not use 'xiang' even though think means 'think' literally. the word think in that english sentence actually means i feel that this chinese movie is very interesting. hence, feel should be 'jue de' not 'xiang'. 'you qu' means interesting. you can keep 'you yi si' if you want, as it has the meaning interesting too.)


7. then forget it. i will go to bed

Na suan le. wo shui jiao.

Na suan le. Wo qu shui jiao. ('qu' means go.)

do you mean the signs - / V \ on top of the alphabets for pin yin? it is actually in this sequence 1 - 2 / 3 V 4 \

chocomocha : this word is actually read as jiang1. it can be a surname or it can mean a large river =)

i think it will be better if you say,
wei4! qing3 ni3 bie2 zai4 shuo1 hua4, xian1 ting1 wo3 shuo1. bu3 yao4 zai4 yi4 bie4 ren2 zen3 me4 shuo1, zen3 me4 jiang3. zhong4 yao4 de3 shi4 wo3 xiang1 xin4 ni3, dui4 ba?

When using just numbers, they write the Arabic numbers (was it Arabic?), right? But then what's the use for when you write the actual character of the number. I see "yi" written a lot, but not as a number.
