Okay I have a few questions to ask haha.

First, I was wondering what 暗恋我 meant. If I remember from what people told me, in roman letters that's "An Lian Wo". Now i know "wo" is "I" .. but i have no idea about the rest . Any help? haha

I also was curious as to the word "bu" [不], like what it means. I've always seen it in a negative way, like "bu yao" [[which i think was "don't want"? or something along those lines]] or "dui bu qi" [[which is said after a negative thing i guess..]], so is there a literal translation for what it would be? I know there's probably other ways you can use "bu" but I mean based on negative things like i mentioned..

Aaand one final question, which is going to end up with horrible spelling i'm sure but hopefully you'll be able to get what i'm trying to say even a little bit. What does "da jia hao" mean? I've heard it alot lately when watching music performances, the singer says it to the audience when they first come out. So i assumed it was some form of hello or something? But then i thought "ni hao" means hello, and now, i'm just confused haha.

Any help on this stuff would be appreciated (= Sorry if they are really stupid questions, and also sorry about my [most likely] horrible spelling on my last question..

^

as for 不, alone, it's be like "no" basically
"da jia hao" (大家好) is basically like "hi everyone~" or a greeting to more than one person (friendly greeting) "Ni hao" (你好) is more like saying "hi" to one person or a bit more formal?

and your pin yin is quite good actually =v= better than mine -o-

1 for the first one, 暗恋我 means someone falls in love with me secretly, 暗恋 means unrequited love.
2 bu "不" means no or not, "dui bu qi" is a phrase which means "sorry". you couldn't guess the meaning word by word. i think "bu" can be considered as a prefix, like "un-". it's negative. just my thought.
3 "da jia hao" is just a greeting. when you faced a lot of people or audience, you can greet "da jia hao". "ni hao" means "hello or hi"

Aa thank you JapaneseObsession, and kshismine for your help! happy.gif And i'm glad I spelled "da jia hao" right haha, i was going by ear so I didn't know for sure if it would be right or not xD

Anyways another quick question [[sorry for all the questions, i'm just excited to finally have a place where I can ask questions about chinese cause i've always wondered a lot of stuff haha]], what does "yi zi shen gong" mean? I don't know what the symbols for it would be, because it was only written in pin yin, but hopefully that's not a problem..

I hope i'm not bothering everyone with my questions sleep.gif;;

一指神功
yi zhi shen gong

literally translated into power of one finger, like maybe you can type sms very fast, or in those martial arts dramas, I think it's some kind of martial art.

Maybe someone else here can help you better with the meaning smile.gif

一指神功 (yi zhi shen gong) is used in Chinese martial dramas where one has deep knowledge about martial arts and can kill / hurt someone without breaking a sweat. For example(in dramas/series), they(the one that has deep knowledge about martial arts) is meditating(cross-legged), and another person is trying to assasinate him/her, then the person that is meditating would usually kill them in their sitting position and then keep on meditating like nothing had happened.
So tengteng is write, except I don't get the type sms very fast part, but it's mostly used in martial arts.
I hope that helped you!

Could someone translate and romanize (into Cantonese) these song titles? It'd be very much appreciated.. they're from 薛凱琪's 'F Best.'

01. 下次下次 (New)
02. 樓梯轉角 (New)
03. 不知不覺 (New)
04. 糖不甩
05. 小陝谷之1234
06. Dear Fiona
07. 有隻雀仔
08. 尋找獨角獸
09. 白色戀人
10. 快樂到天亮
11. 男孩像你
12. 小黑與我
13. 886
14. 南瓜車
15. 麥當娜一吻
16. 上帝是男孩
17. XBF
18. 奇洛李為斯回信

And if it's possible, could this be translated too? Only if you're bored and have the time... tq...

repeat *

像個世上最壞 愛情童話 最襯你那個是我
就算都算相愛 仍然沒法比兄妹浪漫更多
共我繼續約會 喝茶談天你說勝過了共他一起消磨
為何他會得到寶座 長伴身邊的卻是我

01. Next time (ha ci ha ci)
02. Corner of the stairs (liou tei jun gok)
03. Not knowing (but zi but gok) <-- it'll be more accurate if you say ' butt ' instead of but
04. ------- (It wouldn't make any sense in English) (taung but shuai)
05. Little Plateau's 1234 (I think you have the second Chinese Character wrong, because that's not a word.) (xiu hub ko zi yi yie sam sie)
06. Dear Fiona
07. There's a Little Bird (yuo jie juo zai)
08. Searching for Unicorn (cum zao dog gok sao)
09. White Lovers (bak sei lun yen)
10. Happy til the morning (fai lo do tin luang)
11. Guy like you (nam hai ci lei)
12. ------ (' 小黑 ' is a nickname, it's not to be translated into English, but the third one means happy, and last is I.) (xiu hak haeng o)
13. 886 (ba ba lou)
14. Pumpkin Car (nam gua qie)
15. Madonna's Kiss (mek dong na yi men)
16. Lord is a guy (shuang di hei nam hai)
17. XBF
18. ----'s mail reply (the first five chinese characters are translated from English to Chinese, it'll be a lot harder to translated back. So hopefully someone will know what's Song 18.) (kei lou lei wai si wui shun)

For the Chinese lyrics, I think you should request in the Lyrics section. There are people who are taking requests right now in that forum. I think you can find one on page one of the Lyrics thread.

Here's my version of it because some of chr1stych3n's romanizations are a bit wrong.
This is also my way of romanizing them into Cantonese that I think is the most accurate to pronounce.
Not the best translations btw ;x

Fiona Sit - F Best
01. Next Time (ha ci ha ci)
02. Staircase Corner (lau tai juen gok)
03. Unconsciously (but zi but gok)
04. (not sure what it's called in English but it's a Hong Kong desert) (tong but lut) GOOD SONG xD
05. Small Canyon 1234 (no idea) (siu hap gok zhi 1234)
06. Dear Fiona
07. There's a Bird (Yau Jek Jerk Zai)
08. Searching for Unicorns (chum zhao duk gok sau)
09. White Lovers (bak sik leurn yun)
10. Happy Till Dawn (Fai Lok Do Tin Lerng)
11. Boy Like You (nam Hai Jerng Nei)
12. Siu Hak And I (Siu Hak Yu Ngo)
13. 886
14. Pumpkin Cart (Nam Gua Che)
15. Madonna's Kiss (Mak Don Na Yut Mun)
16. God/Lord if a Boy (Seung Dai Si Nam Hai)
17. XBF
18. Keanu Reeves's Letter (Kei Lok Lei Wai Si Wooi Sun)
人生不管在多困難的時候都可以完成最動人的樂章

i have an odd request. for people who have traditional chinese phones and want to txt msg. I have stroke or pin yin as writing methods. does anyone know the numerical keys to say "are you back from hong kong yet, how was the flight?"

that would be so awesome and I thank you in advance.

edit - it's actually easier i do pin yin because then i can spell it out in english and find the character in chinese, but i have no idea how to speak mandarin so I wont understand it at all :S is there a reason why the phone can't let you pin yin in cantonese but can do it in mandarin?

Are you back from Hong Kong yet? How was the flight?

你从香港回来了吗? ni cong xiang gang hui lai le ma?
(I don't know how to translate ' How was the flight? ' correctly.)

I think if you were to type it into the phone, I think you need the ping yin for the complicated chinese.
I am not sure.
I hoped that helped you anyway.

oh my thank you so much, that will work!! I manage to type it into the phone using pin yin just fine. But do you know why this is so? i am guessing stroke method would be for anyone who can write, but pin yin is only for mandarin speakers?
