While watching Taiwanese drama, I hear this thing, which I guess is slang, but they say something like: Wah Sai~

It seems to be the equivalent to englishs: OMG Nice!

Anyone have the actual written form? Or is there no written form for this. xP Just wondering

哇塞

is this the one? LOL sorry im not that sure. :x

Yeah, should be this '哇塞'.
I think it should mean something like 'OMG' or 'Wow'.
Used to express as when (usually) you are shocked or surprised at something.
Something like this. Hope I'm not wrong.
Haha.

From a CSL's POV: sweatingbullets.gif
"I can only write a bit in chinese" :

我会写一点中文。
wo hui xie yi dian zhong wen

I attempted to figure out the 2nd one but can't get a full sentence translation out of it. blush.gif

我只能写一点点中文

但是我们可以完全了解对方/ 彼此。

Thank you b1gb4ng1rl and cRoSsTaGe

In the second sentence I guess 彼此 should make more sense than 对方...right?

Is this from lyrics or poem?
It means something like 'you are watching at the blizzard/storm and am doubting when will it stop'.
Not very sure about the blizzard/storm because 風雪 literally means Wind and Snow.
This kind of phrase is more likely to be found in poems or lyrics.

P.S: I can't be 100% sure as I am sure this is from Poems or Lyrics.

I hope it helps.

it doesn't really make a difference, both works equally ^^

its 那日 or 哪日? because if its 那日its referring to a specific day and the sentence won't make any sense
if its 哪日, then FiOh's translation is right smile.gif

Just wondering... but does the whole tone/pronunciation thing apply when you're singing Chinese songs?
I thought I could sing along Chinese songs to improve my pronunciation like I did with Japanese, but would this really help me?

it almost doesnt apply, because its really very hard to differentiate the sound of the tone with the sound of the music. and also, sometimes they would tweak the tone so it goes with the music. so music is good for learning new words, but not much for pronunciation...

Drama is where I learn my mandarin... My strong cantonese base helps. ^^

But yeah, music is the worse way to learn how to pronounce. O________O I tried saying a few words I heard from songs, it came out weird. Just like I was trying to say Ai ke yi dian liang zheng ge shi jie... My friend said... "All I understood was world"

打給我
dǎ gěi wǒ

hopefully you can see the accent marks.. if not the pinyin is simply "da gei wo" ^^

^

Depends on the situation though.

If someone is not home say:

請你回家的時候打一個電話給我.

or if your telling someone to call you:

打給我 would work or 記得打給我啊.

Anyways, I'm just making everything complicated. O.o
