listening to rainie yang's 你是耲人 (ni shi huai ren) really helped me be able to pronounce "ren" (:

i had a question to ask.
could some explain, 过(guo) to me please?
i've seen it use in certain sentences, and i'm confused to as why it's there.

Well, it's not only 过 that has different meanings when used in different circumstances...
For some examples.. lemme think... okay.

well, the official literal meaning of 过 would be "having passed/through".

说过 (or similar usage: 错过)
when used here, it implies the meaning of "having already done something".
Therefore, this phrase would mean that "someone has said before..."

走过
in this case, it means "across", the whole phrase thus meaning "to walk across".

sometimes, it can also mean "after", like in 过了十年 (after ten years) and it also kind of means that (having passed ten years). So it holds quite a similar meaning to "having passed".

haha it's kind of hard to explain it, but i hope you get the idea. having some sentences would be pleasant for explanations. =P

Could someone please translate this?

I am super amateurish at Chinese so I can only give you the gist...but I'm sure someone else will come along and give you a full translation. sweatingbullets.gif

's alcoholic strength/quantity(? I'm guessing s/he is asking how much he drank, possibly per day.) ? After drinking, how did you behave? [something like that, I think...]

: About 7 bottles (7 bottles?!) But I quit drinking already, haven't drank for almost 2 years. Being a singer, I quit to protect my throat (protect my voice). Habits/behavior after drinking? [Don't really get this part....something about talking about it....^__^;; and then I think he just talks about what he did when he was drunk/after drinking, getting close to (hooking up with?) anyone...at first he didn't believe it because he didn't remember anything....someone asking him (?) Why did you 亲 me?] At first I was certain/denied that that ever happened, but after wards something something was too much so.....but I already quit drinking so that kind of thing absolutely won't happen again.

That was the best I could do. u___u;;;

Haha that has helped me! I understand now, the sentence i saw it in which really confused me was something like...
“没有过的爱清“
so could you say the 过 in this goes with the literal meaning you mentioned? That use of guo confused me but now I think I understand...

谢谢你!

There's around 7 bottle(7bottle?!). However i quit drinking for around 2 years. Being a singer, i have to protect my throat(voice) so i quit drinking. Bad behavior/habit after drinking? It is really embarrass for me to say out... I will go around kissing people (no matter if the person is a girl or guy?) Yah, at the beginning, i don't believe it either. Because i don't rem what i have done when i'm drunk. But on the 2nd day a junior asked me decently:"Bro,why did you kissed me yesturday?" I was very sure i did not do that in the first place. However, there are more and more complaint about me kissing them...but i've quit drinking now, so i believe this kind of thing will not happen again...

i did not translate the "的酒量是?喝醉以后有什么特别的习惯么? " because pinapple Q has already done it ^^
But i hope u understand my english. Cause my english ain't as good as my chinese tongue.gif:P:P

beijing mandarin is the standard mandarin, what you'll most commonly hear and learn
i like beijing mandarin because it's clearer? i don't know it's easier to understand for me...other accents i have a hard time understanding..i'm like wha? mellow.gif

It's because the original standard of mandarin is beijing hua. Dialects are but a subgroup and a way of expressing mandarin in different provinces of China. Like Hokkien, Cantonese, Hakka, and many others.
So the most precise one would be bei jing hua.
However, not only beijing uses the language... some provinces DO use it, but with heavy accents or slangs.

Taiwan also uses dialect and some use the standard zhong yu. They prefer traditional writing though.

Oh heavens, it is really too good.
You are the best! I really like this song
continue to follow up Ayaka - I believe( referring to a song), Crescent moon (a song), jewelry day (a song).
I totally like the 4th song.

鍾意 This is 香港 hua, so i guess it's a kind of jargon. It means "to like"
呢首歌 I'm not sure why the "ne" is there, but overall it should be "that song". It's probably a typo.
係我繼 Again, the use of "xi" is rather unfamiliar to me... it should mean to connect/continue
ayaka既 i believe a song
三日月 Crescent moon ( a song)
jewelry day
第4 The fourth
A "liang ci", used to express quantity, attributed in this case to "song"

phew this was hard to translate. I normally use simplified chinese text.
i'm not sure about the "xi" parts, hope someone else comes along to clarify.

I'm not aware that cantonese is the "original". Perhaps they mean the traditional writing system, which is used by the canto-speaking people in HK and Macau.

I personally dislike Beijing accents. The "er" sound I don't like at all. I prefer the standard Guoyu, spoken in Taiwan.
