would someone with a good heart can translate these sentences to me? thanx in advance.

1. 这些照片以前也看到过,但有的还没见,第一组图是去年拍的杂志照吗?

2. 上面的图之前看过..后面的应该是熙熙早期的图片吧...哈哈~~帅....

These photos (I've) seen before, but there are still some I haven't seen, are the first group's pics from last year's magazine shots?

The picture above, I've seen before... the next ones should be 熙熙's earlier pics... haha~~ handsome....

~ translated as literally as possible.

Any recommendations for low budget hostels in HK? I have looked around the web at several places. But after looking these places up through newsgroups, I am not sure if they're reliable... or for that matter safe. Some friends (3) and I were planning on going to HK for about a month and are looking for a place to stay. It doesn't have to be fancy or anything, pretty much just bed/bathroom/clean/safe/cheap. Any suggestions?

Steps on downloading files in RapidShare

P.S. rapidshare is much more faster in downloading a file compared to

megaupload which takes ages.

1. Click the "Free" button to initiate the download. A new page will

appear, just scroll down.

2. Wait until the timer stops and type the code

3. A dialog box will pop up. Just save the file on your desired

location.

Rapidshare 檔案下載步驟
Rapidshare 比 Megaupload 的下載速度更快.

1. 按下 "free" 就開始下載。新的一頁就會出現,拉到最下面。
2. 倒數完後,輸入密碼
3. 一個對話盒便會出現了,儲存在你喜歡的地方。

Hi all. i've kinda got a problem....

my parents really want me to go to China to study abroad. unfortunately i barely know enough Mandarin to communicate. i can listen much better than speaking. i watch a lot of dramas and talk shows but its so hard for me to form my own sentences.

that said.
i also went to chinese school (although i didn't really try at the time) and i'm just so used to traditional chinese characters. i hate simplified... it just looks weird and (as other have said) it doesn't look like chinese.

Mainland uses simplified, Taiwan uses traditional. i want to go to Taiwan just for that reason... but i know that i should be learning simplified cuz that's what so many millions of people know. Yet i've been hearing so much bad news and stories about Mainland China. Should i have a reason to not live there on my own for a semester? How is daily life and has anyone studied abroad there? do people frown on you if you are a twinkie? Would studying Mandarin in China be a better idea or studying Mandarin in Taiwan be a better idea?

of course i'll try to improve my Mandarin before i go... If i do go.

well traditional characters are the ancient ways of writing the characters.. in short, there are more strokes in one word. as for simplified characters, some of the strokes are cut off or the word is modified to simplify the writing of the word.

i hope i explained it well enuff.

China is wonderful. There's much more diversity there. I've visited many colleges and universities there over the past summer in Beijing, and there were so many study abroad people it really shocked me. They all struggle with speaking Mandarin, but everyone around helps them out.

If you do study abroad in China, I suggest Beijing because everyone must speak Mandarin in Beijing while most of the other big cities have different dialects. And also because Beijing is the capital, and it really has everything.

Actually, I will be going to Beijing to study abroad my junior year of college and I am very much looking forward to it. It'll be a great experience! Simplified is not that bad really. Most people in mainland can read traditional, you will have no problem communicating on paper. As for language, you'll pick it up when you're under that environment. For example, I forget a lot of Chinese phrases when I'm living in the states, but once I'm back in Beijing, I pick it right up because you're pretty much forced to speak it or no one will understand a thing you say. So, no worries about that.

我的同性恋倾向大概是从04年初开始的

在经历了与女性的多次感情失败后(major cause) 再加上性格问题 我开始更往同性恋集体中靠拢

其实之前我就早有暗示了 证据就是之前的blog和周四的debate

希望大家摘掉有色眼镜 用正确的目光去看待我

如果你因此歧视我 你终究会被时代所淹没的

谢谢

Where did you find this? o_O;;
Sorry, I tried my best, but some of the sentences are kind of choppy. ^^;
To everyone who has much better Chinese than I do, if I made any mistakes, feel free to correct them! ^^

我的同性恋倾向大概是从04年初开始的
My homosexual tendency started around the beginning of the year 04

在经历了与女性的多次感情失败后(major cause) 再加上性格问题 我开始更往同性恋集体中靠拢
Through experience with women, after many times of emotional failures(major cause); in addition, a disposition(nature/character) issue, I began toward homosexual..(集体中靠拢<~Not sure what those mean together o_O...集体=collective; 靠攏=draw close, narrow)

其实之前我就早有暗示了 证据就是之前的blog和周四的debate
Actually before, I had a hint. The evidence is the old blog and zhou si*'s
debate.
(*zhou si can be "Thursday" but it seems it could be a name here?)

希望大家摘掉有色眼镜 用正确的目光去看待我
*Hope everyone will take off their colored glasses, using the proper view to look upon me.
("i" is implied here.)

如果你因此歧视我 你终究会被时代所淹没的
Consequently, if you discriminate against me, you will eventually drown by time. (it kind of means like you will drown because the times are changing.)

谢谢
Thank you.

Boo~ I don't know how hanconv works when it converts sleep.gif
I took the above script and converted it to pinyin, but it gave me like...multiples for most of the words. Is that normal?

Yes, its normal since some words have more than one way to pronounce or different tones. You can change the options so it will not show all possibilities. Go to Convert~>Romanize~>Output all possibilities
I personally prefer having the possibilities showing. ^^;
