I'm sorry but you are a retard... Asians are a minority in the U.S. If anything, we are "外国人". "白人和黑人" comprise the U.S... they're the people that established this country. Without them, you wouldn't have a country to live in!

Why do you have to eavesdrop on other people's conversations? They could be European and don't speak English... it's quite rude to speak in another language just so that others can't understand you. Also, people speak their respective languages because that's what they speak. It's not a contest or anything.

But 白人和黑人 just speak English here mostly, which we can all understand so we've got the advantage!

You guys are idiots. I'm sorry. We are in America. We speak English - sorry to say this but everyone doesn't speak Chinese.

In America, we're not forced to learn any foreign languages. Why should Chinese be imposed? People couldn't care less about Chinese, as ignorant as it is.

魔术的代价 is like a price you pay if you learn magic. Not an actual price, but like the hardwork behind it.

NAY? or LAY?

I say LAY and i believe that is the correct way..
unless nay is too? -0- ierno.. it's annoying when ppl say nay (unless they're not fluent..i guess)

N and L are interchangeable in Cantonese. Both are perfectly okay to use. So NAY is correct.

what boggles me is that english has german conjugation... and has a whole slew of words derived from german

English isn't a romance language, it's germanic.

also, spanish has come in much handier here in the states (and i don't live anywhere near the border, either) for me than chinese would have, although i would like to learn more chinese than the pitifully small amount i know right now. i'm only in high school, but with spanish 1) it got me my job 2) i can read the notices in the grocery store 3) it got me my tutoring position and 4) i can understand the ~50% of my neighbors who're hispanic. i also think spanish is easier than english. explaining spanish verb conjugations is fairly simple. explaining the same thing in english involves many more exceptions and different rules for doing things.

Some of the younger generation has pretty horrible phonetics skills, for instance it irks me everytime when I hear people say "pen yau" instead of "pung yau" for "朋友", and for "郭", it should be "gWog" instead of "gog", and "我" is "Ngor", not "aw".

是的， 大陆人是会看简体和繁体。

我不知道为什么台湾人觉得简体字那么难念。
我很不喜欢一些人说什么大陆人和台湾人还有香港人。。。 好像这三种人不是中国人似的。 不管怎样， 大陆人台湾人香港人都读中文，写中文，说中文。
所以， 都是中国人。


It's not that difficult to read simplified Chinese people. Stop making a huge deal out of it.
It's like reading British english when you're used to American english. Well, almost like that, but you get the idea.

因为在中国，广东话也是个很大的语系， 所以这里才会讨论广东话。
中国有很多的方言。 而且中文也都包括这些方言。
但是普通话是标准的中国话。
