It can convert traditional to simplified and vice versa.
ohh I already have a program like that on my computer
but I was just wondering if there was a chart because sometimes when I see Simplified characters, I would be able to recognize it if there was some chart I could learn off of
like 們 = 们 | 聽 = 听

However, the first example was li3xiao3jie3. Xiao3jie3 is not the same word repeated. Li3xiao3jie3 should have a tone mark for every word, even though it's pronounced Li3xiao2jie3.
yeah i've just checked dictionary... the 姐 don't get a tone mark ... weird though.. cos i thought it should since we do pronounce it with a tone.
I really don't know why it doesn't get one ... sorry couldn't help.
Just that I write without thinking about Pinyin, so I really don't know the theory behind it.

1. I started learning Chinese in the summer when i came to korea, so that i can take it in university (since its much better to learn Chinese in Korea than US or Canada). But i found that i can't take Chinese until next summer since my schedule doesn't work out. I dont want to forget it. What should i do?
2. I also want to listen to Chinese music, but I want to make sure that the music is in Mandarin. Here are the list of artists i have:
F4
Philip Wang
Meteor Garden OST
光良 (Guang Liang)
孤泣 (Ray)
张学友 (장학우)
张柏芝 (장백지)
李岗 (Alex Li)
杜德伟 (Alex Toh)
林俊杰 (임준걸)
楊丞琳 (양청린)
汪佩蓉(왕패용)
王力宏 (왕리홍)
胡彦斌 (호언빈)
范玮琪 (Fan Wei Chi, Fanfan)
陶喆 (도철)
Also, if there are ne artists that sing in mandarin, recommend some to me. I would be even more thankful if you can tell me where to dl them.
3. I want to watch a chinese sit-com (not drama, since they tend to be long) about 20-40mins long thats in mandarin. I would prefer like teenage sit-coms (like Nonstop 6 of korea). If someone could recommend some and tell me where i can find them, it would be nice.
Another thing. I just need to ask. Do u think it would be possible for someone of my age (2nd year in uni) to learn to speak Chinese fluently? I mean, when i hear chinese ppl speak or listen to Chinese music or watch chinese shows/movies, i can hear the words- its not just mumbling to me. The problem is, i dont know the meaning of those words. Also, I didn't learn Han-ja (Chinese writing) like most koreans do. so...what are my chances? I really have the desire to learn it.
NE way, sorry for the long post.
Please help me out!!

Ok. I really really want to learn Chinese. I have been wanting to learn it for a long time (since i was 13). I have a few issues though.
1. I started learning Chinese in the summer when i came to korea, so that i can take it in university (since its much better to learn Chinese in Korea than US or Canada). But i found that i can't take Chinese until next summer since my schedule doesn't work out. I dont want to forget it. What should i do?

1. practice more in daily life, it would be very difficult at first, but it should start to flow once your chinese gets to a certain level.
2. these artists are pretty good. there's also that "Tank" person, don't know his name in Chinese. Jay Chou, "Zhou Jie Lun" is really good, i love the lyrics in some of his songs, those written by Fang Wen Shan. If you know the song or artist names, you can search them on "mp3.sina.com.cn", "mp3.baidu.com". z-degrees used to have a lot of chinese songs, but i think it's down. anyone knows what happened?
3. I don't know any TW sitcoms, but Mainland i know of "Wu Lin Wai Zhuan" 武林外传, it's a comedy set in ancientish times. it's about 80 episodes, around 20/30 min each epi. there's a lot of internet language that you might not understand b/c the guy who wrote the script is an internet bug. 康熙来了 is a good TW show, it's not a sitcom, more like interview shows, but it's hella funny although some of the jokes are quite crude. I would still recommend dramas, b/c they have a much concrete plot and use more advanced language than just sitcoms. History dramas are the best, b/c they teach very advanced chinese and give you the background on the chinese language at the same time.
4. i believe that you can master any language if you put your heart to it. i know a lot of foreigners who have fluent chinese although they started learning at an older age. you'd just have to work really hard.

^ In one of the taiwanese series, they translated "wo xiang ni" (i think) as I miss you.. Is that another way of saying it ?
Yes, and it's the usual way of saying it. Most ppl will say "wo xiang ni" rather than "wo gao nian ni"

Any downloadable files to practice pronounciation?
I've been very weak in this area. How do I overcome it?
