I'm a Green Tea junkie, and I'm planning on losing weight. Will it make me gain more or less? or nothing? I know it has 0 fat, but I have trouble trusting the nutrition chart thingy. I drink it iced in the morning, and hot at night.

help? Yeah it is a stupid question... dry.gif

well...how much do you define as a lot? are you male or female? how tall are you, how much do you weigh, how old are you, whats your body type, how active are you? what i want to say is that it depends on a lot of things to know how much is too much.

other than that i would say green tea is pretty healthy, but overdoing something is rarely a good idea. if you want to lose weight don't just rely on green tea. exercise and a healthy, balanced diet is important. although it can help you lose weight, it will only do so by a fraction (has something to do with raising your metabolism for a little). but it has a lot of other health benefits as well.

BUT drink too much and you can have stained teeth sad.gif and you'll pee a lot and won't be able to sleep well and so on and so forth.

Green tea is good for you, but just don't have too much in one serving.
Green tea contains caffeine and speeds up the metabolism (increases your heart rate), so don't overdo it or you might send your body into shock.
I made myself really sick once when I overdosed on green tea T-T
But anyway, I recommend that you take no more than 1 cup of green tea every 2 hours and balance it out through the day instead of having it all at once ^^

too much of anything is never good.

anyways, drinking green tea will have no effect on your diet.
why would it?
it won't help it, and it won't hinder it...it also won't make you lose weight.

Twice a day is perfectly fine! Some do 3 cups/daily as well - it just has to do with how well you can handle the caffeine. Green tea has lots of antioxidants and 0 calories, so it may be said that it's healthier than plain water.

If you are afraid of the caffeine, you can get rid of it if you have a nice leaf to start off with. Caffeine's the first thing to be released when you steep tea, so just let it steep for ~45 seconds before tossing out the water and steeping a new cup. >90% of the caffeine will have displaced into the water you threw out.

Green tea is good for your metabolism, so if you incorporate it into your diet and exercise, it could very well help you lose weight (then again, they also say that water boosts your metabolism by 3%).

It's healthy unless you add sugar or something to it. yes, it does have caffeine so if you drink a lot it'll stain your teeth (like all caffeinated drinks). : ) It's still a lot better than scarfing down a latte or cup of coffee to stay awake, and no sugar means it's better than soft drinks.

So, I see no adverse affects except keeping you up at night if you drink too much in the evening.

Excessive tea drinking without proper water consumption (to match or balance it out) could possibly lead to kidney stones. I've met someone who had a 4mm stone, which was lab tested and found to be caused by excessive tea drinking.

Having a kidney stone is no fun... so drink plenty of water too (during the day with the tea). wink.gif

Just don't drink those Snapple green tea, green tea ice cream, and others with sugar in it and you're ok.

Green tea is sometimes part of a few diet systems of celebrities have such as Reese Witherspoon, as it helps speed metabolism :3.

But it has caffeine, so I don't drink it often, only when I need to calm down or if I have something important to do like a test/studying.

green tea doesn't have that much caffeine, only about 40 mg compared to 80-90 in coffee. they say you should not consume more than 300mg of caffeine per day, so if you only drink 2 cups you're way below the limit and have nothing to worry about. in addition, like everyone has already said, it speeds up your metabolism very slightly (it takes a lot of green tea to do this). it also has antioxidants that are more potent than the ones found in blueberries, which are very strong. but like some of the others said, watch out for the stains..
