Is Your Plan After High School The Same As Your Parents Plan For You?

Maybe it's just the way I am but when my parents talk about what they want for me, I want what they want for me more than anything in the world. I know that no matter what I choose to be, if I'm good at what I do, I know that I'll see that proudness on their faces and thats exactly what I want and I'm sure as long as I am happy, they'll be happy.
I think you just need talk to your parents. Tell them what is it you want to be and if you're good at what you do, you're bound for greatness.

she also wants me to attend college nearby and become a teacher like her.
unfortunately, i dislike children.
i told her my plan that i'd like to attend culinary school to become a chef.
she's disappointed, but it's my choice and my future.
if you have your mind set on what you'd like to be in the future, then nothing/no one can really stop you.

don't get me wrong, i think it's a great school, i just think if i went there there would really be no self recognition just for the name.
but in truth we both hope for me to get into a good UC.
then there comes the part where my parents want me to be a pharmacists, eww.
and how my sister wants me to go to stanford to study there for my career choice since i do wish to be in the medical field.

I also want to be a musician <3 my mom is supportive of both the careers I intend to pursue. My dad..he used to be. Now he's all 'You should be a nurse, no one makes money in the video game business' pffft. I bet Tetsuya Nomura has enough for some nice things. I'm going to do what I want and hopefully my dad will realize that is what makes me happy and accept it.

I know you don't want to go to standford, but
you get so many connections at stanford...ohmygod.
my cousin goes there for grad school, and she knows that son of the CEO of pepsi/target (one of those) and there was also this prince who was in one of her classes. and there's more, but I forgot them. I think the point of going to ivies and prestigious privates(but don't take my word for it, it's just my opinion) is that the high pressure atmosphere will force you to do well , and you'll be able to meet people who can help you and your career in the future.
my parents don't really care what I major in, as long as it's something that I like and something that I have potential in.
they say that if I like what I'm doing, I'll be more likely to succeed and lead a happier life...
I guess I'm lucky in that aspect.

Mother wants me to be anything I want to be. Oddly enough, my Mother used
to pressure me into being a lawyer/nurse/ until she worked in Marlton and did the nails
for the abound of teachers there. She now realizes how lucrative and respectful
of a job teaching is =D. Yeah for me! Because I want to be an English teacher!

On the other hand, I want to enlist in the Navy. Being a only child and a girl, I know my parents will highly disapprove of this. I'm planning to tell them the news when everything is set in stone.

Becoming a doctor is hardly easier than going into business. I'd say you'd work the same amount of hours. Depending on what type of physician you want to be, you can work up to 80hrs sometimes. I wouldn't call it a 'great' lifestyle unless you really enjoy working in that field.
Rather than slaving through years and years of school (be ready to sacrifice the next ten years of your life) and shelling out lots of $$ to do something you don't like, use your time and money for something that'll interest you.

my dad wants me to go to harvard, MIT, stanford, etcetc so that i get rich and in the future, buy him stuff . . .
but he never stops to think that i cant make it . . . and everything he says just puts pressure on me
in the end, he wont be the only one disappointed . . . id be more disappointed to let him down
my mom's more practical - telling me that i should just go to a not-the-top school so that i can be among the top ><
then my dad says shes stupid and thats the reaction of some1 who isnt educated >________>
i guess part of it is my fault because im a very indecisive person. also i have no strongpoints or interests that i want to pursue
soooo bland ; u ;
