NYC Prep
NYC Prep will follow six Manhattan teenagers in their daily lives. The audience will catch a glimpse of what real life Manhattan life is like by seeing events such as weekend parties, shopping sprees, and dinner parties. The show has drawn many comparisons to the hit CW television show, Gossip Girl because both shows revolve around the lives of Manhattan's elite teenagers. However, NYC Prep will follow real teenagers in a docu-series, while Gossip Girl follows fictional characters in a television drama.

The Actors Cast

Peter "PC" Peterson is a 18 year old resident of New York City. He attended the Dwight School on the Upper West Side. He is the grandson of billionaire Peter Peterson. PC is interested in photography and acting. He and Jessie are best friends, and the show follows much of their relationship.

Sebastian Oppenheim is a 16 year old student at The Ross School, a private school in East Hampton, New York. Sebastian is a member of the school's class of 2011. Sebastian is known in his group of friends for being the one who often hooks up with girls

Camille Hughes is a 17 year old student at the Nightingale-Bamford School, an all-girls school on the Upper East Side of New York City. She is a member of the school's class of 2010. Camille is an academically driven student who hopes to be a member of the class of 2014 at Harvard University. Despite this, she enjoys high school drama. Camille has a younger sister Lillie, who is 14. She and her sister live with their mother Cinda in Manhattan.

Jessica Leavitt is a 17 year old student at the Dwight School on the Upper West Side of New York City. She is a member of the school's class of 2009 . Jessie is passionate about fashion and hopes to be a member of the Fashion Institute of Technology class of 2013.

Kelli Tomashoff is a 17 year old student at the Birch Wathen Lenox School on the Upper East Side of New York City. She is a member of the school's class of 2010 [6]. Kelli's parents live in The Hamptons, while Kelli and her older brother share an apartment on the Upper East Side. Kelli is passionate about singing and hopes to be a pop star. Kelli's vocal coach is Badiene Magaziner.

Taylor DiGiovanni is a 15 year old student at Stuyvesant High School, a public high school in Battery Park City in New York City. Taylor is a member of the school's class of 2011. She is the only cast member who does not attend a private high school. Despite the fact that she attends public high school, she is still friends with many teenagers in the elite high school social scene.

Critisim
There has been some criticism among those who attend other NYC prep schools that the schools attended by the cast are in no way elite. Many other members of the New York City private school community have stated that the experiences shown on the show are not similar to how life actually is for most Upper East Siders. Filming was not allowed during school, nor were any school names specifically mentioned on the show, as the schools desired to distance themselves from the show. Dorothy Hutcheson, head of Nightingale-Bamford school, sent a letter home to all Nightingale parents, warning them about the show and the potentially negative portrayal of the school on the show.

Criticism has also arisen based off the reality of the show. While the cast members do not seem to have a problem talking about their money, many old money New Yorkers feel that talking about money is off limits. This has led to allegations that the students on the show are not authentic New York City prep school students, but rather just are just teenagers seeking fame.

Furthermore, one of the NYC prep characters attends a public school which, while very rigorous, is not a prep school. Additionally, Sebastian does not live in the Upper East side but on Long Island, where he attends the Ross School in East Hampton.

News
BILLIONAIRE Pete Peterson is said to be “mortified” over the sneering performance of his grandson PC (above) on Bravo’s “NYC Prep.” “Pete is really upset,” a friend said. PC — whose official bio says, “Money, women and life’s spoils are all he’s ever known” — is seen bragging and picking on younger kids. The insider added, “He was kicked out of several schools and the family cut him off at one point. He’s doing this show to get an acting career.” Good Luck! Last week, PC was spotted getting “super touchy-feely” with Barron Hilton at the Gramercy Park Hotel. A Bravo rep had no comment.

lol @ bravo trying to make a 'Nate' and 'Chuck'. Sorry but there's not one person on this show that's actually good looking. And for anyone wondering if it's real or not, it's probably fake (omg shocking I know). Someone on another forum posted that they saw them filming, and one of the producers told the girl to be more dramatic, etc.

I know a few of the kids on this show and it's definitely not "real" in any sense of the word. The cast members (I like how you crossed out actors hahaha) get spending money because not all of them are as rich as the show makes them out to be; their shopping sprees don’t actually affect them because they’re not spending their own money. Though scenes aren't scripted, the cast is told essentially what the production wants it to do/say. Quite a few of the things that were said on the show aren’t true. And, from what I can see in the previews, most of this is not at all an accurate representation of life on the Upper East Side.

I’m embarrassed that Bravo put this on TV and of what my friends say on it.

well duh, obviously it's scripted, just like every other reality show out there. Meh, really rich student's don't obsess over money cos they're used to it by now. I think it's stupid how networks are churning out crap for the masses. Too bad teenys will lap it up.

Honestly, the NYC in Gossip Girl is like 1/50th of what the city really is.
I think the NYC Prep captures the city a bit more realistically in that sense.

But as for the cast... not so great.

Nevertheless, I think I might tune into the show to see how much of an epic fail this will become. Thought tbh, I'm so sick of the reality shows popping up everywhere...

The characters seem like duplicates of Nate, Chuck, Serena, Blair, and then female Dan.

I watched it and it's actually really entertaining. The kids are morons and none of them are likable but it's still pretty funny.

Didn't watch it, almost did, and glad I didn't. The only cast member that is slightly interesting is the Stuy one. Gossip Girl is still much better and somehow, more believable. I never thought of teens as actual New York elite but more like people 20 yrs old and above. Those teens don't seem to be related to old money either except for PC. Script or no script, they must be pretty hilarious being clueless kids with credit cards and thousand dollar allowances.

I'm in the first ten minutes and PC seems like the only one who is taking this show 'seriously'. He's actually playing his role.

i think NYC is a very fast pace city to live in...
and i think the show portrayed new york in a really wrong way ...
actually upper east side is not the only place that's wealthy ppl live.. soho and tribeca in downtown too...
and also upperwest side is really cool also..

in nyc, every area in manhattan represent the lifestyle of ppl around there not that you live in downtown, you will be less wealthy than upper east side..infact a loft in soho are more expensive than a loft in upper east side...(depending on location ,size , decoration ,etc)

anyway, some of the casts are not really new yorker..
kelli just moved in from hampton and sebastian live in long island not upper east side..
and PC pad is actually locate in upper west side...

they kind of lame....really...

first of all, at least have better looking kids to be on the show. I mean at least shows like Laguna Beach had some eye candy.

Plus, the criticism is well served..when I read that one of the characters went to Stuy it was like wtf? I mean granted Stuy is a GREAT school and some wealthy kids do go there, but the show is called NYC PREP, so obviously have it be an all prep-school cast, duh. I'll check out an episode to see if it's worth watching but from the comments here, I think this show sounds like trash..but since I like trashy "reality tv" I'm visiting bravo.com haha)

p.s. I'm watching this and I already hate Jessie. She's the typical fugly yet full of herself spoiled princess. I know so many chicks like her that it's just sickening every time she comes on screen rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

I can't get over the fact that Kelli and her brother live alone in the city and only see their parents on the weekend in the hamptons... she is so young, I can't believe her parents would do that - crazy!!!
I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.

Exactly.

I do not think this is a good portrayal of life in NYC. It makes it seem like the Upper East Side is a fabulous place to live.
I watch it, and Taylor tics me off the most.
