Hey guys,

this will be my first and final warning in this thread. Already some of you can't discuss an issue (religious or otherwise) civilly and respectfully, without throwing potshots or sarcasm and thinking you're very smart to be doing so. I'm sure it's not escaped your notice that GD has banned religious topics because of the sensitivity of it and how discussion on it always ends up in fights and mud-slinging. I am warning you guys that the next disrespectful remark posted (regardless of whether you're religious or not) will get this thread closed and the offender warned, and one step closer to extending the religion ban to L&R.

So please play nice and be respectful. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I see so many topics of Gay marriage forums [not just on soompi] asking people their opinions about it.
Well it's not so much the person's opinions on same sex relationships but ties back to their own religious beliefs.
Putting gay marriage aside:
What religion are you?
How do you know your God is real?
I'm a Christian, and I believe that my God talks to me when I really desperately need him.
But my friend asked how does he talk to you, like a voice?
but really, it's a feeling. I feel something warm in my heart. And if feels really nice and refreshing. That sounds weird and stupid, but
I really do. I haven't gotten it in a while but ever since I got my calling, I've been getting
the warm feeling from time to time when I really ask for him to talk to me. And the "warm feeling"
somehow guides me to do whatever I need to do.
So that's how I know my God exists. DON'T DARE. Say it's heartburn or whatever.
So I'm curious. If you're hindu, muslim, how can you tell YOUR god is real?
Have you ever had personal encounters that led you to believe your god/gods were real?

I'm christian, but often it seems I feel alone? Like I dn't really feel god's presence. Life hasn't really changed for the better (in fact it's getting worse)

Guess I wouldn't really consider myself that christian like some people (who pray every night, read the bible everyday etc)

That's so weird cause that happened to me once or twice in my life. I was at my lowest and I was so desperate for an answer so I prayed to God then I just felt this strange sensation in my chest. It made me feel light like the burden has been lifted. I felt that God was there with me.

There's no need for responses like this. sleep.gif Don't push your views on people and try and tell them that they're wrong or "silly" for having faith in something that you don't.

I'm Christian and how do I know he's real? It's a little thing called faith.
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

I used to go to church, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to believe in such a god.

I'm Buddhist, we have no god. I should look up more on it too, but I think it's not really a religion, it's like a guide on the right ways to live your life.

^ that's funny. the weak are always leading the strong, why is that? i thought the strong one would know what to do in life, but the weak ones know where to go in life.

we're not suppose to have religion thread unless people can tolerance with each other which is impossible.

Most religious people are victims of child indoctrination. They can't help but to believe what they believe because it's what they've been taught as a child. It's extremely difficult to rid oneself of a delusion that has been fed from the cradle up.

Give me an example of the religious leading the rational and the logical with their belief. There are none.

i wouldn't use the word victims but yeh usually this happens with religions.
Well not with my parents though, they are buddhists but never really taught me or enforced those beliefs on me.
Personally, im an athiest.

Religious indoctrination is child abuse. I wouldn't consider Buddhism a religion because it lacks the belief in god. I see it as philosophy.

It's pretty obvious where this thread is going, but I'll just give my two cents:

I think going to Catholic school is where I completely lost my belief in God, lol. I lasted for three months, then I was told my mom that I couldn't take it anymore.

That's good to know, I really want a God to be real. To make sure at least SOMEONE is looking over humanity.
I doubt it sometimes, and maybe that's why I never really had a feeling I was 'close' to God.
But that's probably because I'm not a very hardcore Christian, more like borderline atheist. I really do want to go to Churches regularly and stuff, but my parents are busy and I've just gotten out of habit.

your gut feeling is really not any different than what a believer of any other religion might feel as well.

a member of scientology or some other cult could very well feel as convicted about their god and beliefs, if not more.

it's funny how people like to ridicule scientologists nowadays about how stupid it is...but it really is no different than traditional christianity and many other religions....

I'm a christian & I believe that christianity IS a relationship with God.
It's not just some religion, cause without the relationship with God, this "religion" doesn't exsist.
I haven't really been doing MY part, keeping my relationship with him strong.. but I do believe that the relationship is what needs to build in order for someone to really be able to call themself a christian.
There's a lot of proof out there that God really does exsist, but the thing that's keeping me drawn to this relationship is faith. Without faith, I would have given this religion up already.

Try praying to Lucifer, you'll get more interesting results. I promise you.

It's ok, you needn't feel guilty because you can pray to God and use jesus as a scapegoat later.
