This post is in continuation to my previous post.

If you play in your school's varsity team, I see that 2 to 3 of your afterschool hours are spent on sports. Then did you or anyone you know who juggled AP classes at the same time? And how many, how did they do. I can see each individual cases could be variegated and swing from one end of spectrum to the other end, but I'm trying to gauge how to prepare for the upcoming years.

for me, I did okay...if I wasn't playing varsity, my grades definitely would have been better.
but in my opinion, it was worth it. there were the overnight trips and we ended up having one of the best seasons our school ever had.
In my case, I was taking 2 AP classes and 2 honors classes
my grades did drop, but they didn't significantly drop. I know for one class, if I wasn't playing tennis, I would have gotten an A- instead of a B+. For the other classes...in my opinion, it didn't change my letter grade.
another player on the team was taking 3 AP classes and 3 honors classes.
during the season, she was tired everyday, and obviously stressed out. I think her situation was basically the same as mine.
and finally, there was this other girl who was taking 3 AP classes and 2 honors classes.
she maintained straight A's I think but she's one of those students who are naturally smart. as in "I got a 2300 on the SAT...but I'm going to retake them because I fell asleep in the middle of it" seriously, those are her exact words.

As for stress levels, it depends on how well your daughter manages stress. all three of us were taking SATs during the fall, but only my first friends showed signs of being overly stressed out...I think the two of us were just able of manage our time more wisely and handle the stress better. but all three of us got very little sleep. haha

good luck to your daughter!
it's definitely doable to juggle AP classes and a sport at the same time.
my mistake is that I didn't manage my time wisely. If I did, my grades could have been higher.

i played on a varsity team, i wouldn't be able to start my homework until about 7 or 8.
and some days i would have dance practice after volleyball practice so i wouldn't start my homework until 9 or 10.
But I've always been like this even with my IB classes. All my classes are Ib except my math and that is an AP class.
I've always had a problem with procrastination, but i did fairly well in my classes i think. My grades are still the same w/o weighted credit as when i wasn't IB, around 90-100

i played on a varsity team.

usually came home around 5 for practices or 7 for matches (which basically most of the season)

i took 4 AP's a year. the funny thing is I always feel better/more productive during that season when i do the sport, cause the i feel like my afterschool time is spent wisely.
it's all bout discipline.

I got A's, one B+.

My friends are the same. some even get all A's. haha

Almost everyone in my grade takes AP classes, and more than half the grade plays varsity sports at school. No one really makes huge adjustments, everyone just still does their work after they come home from school or perhaps study a little during matches/games when sitting idly. Everyone still maintains their straight A's.

I play tennis and badminton, and it always makes me go home around 6pm, but I still have all A's. It's definitely doable to juggle AP classes and varsity sports. But if you do find yourself having a hard time trying to study for everything and doing sports at the same time, then you should start prioritizing which stuff is more important and which stuff you should drop.

I do varsity track and field and I took a few AP Classes and as all the others as honors classes.

I can tell you that there were days that I would be too tired and just sleep and blow off studying for AP Chemistry in particular. You have to have a plan to fight exhaustion. Other than that, I don't think time was too big of an issue, in my opinion, you need to become really efficient with time. By this I mean, sleep well, don't be on Facebook or Soompi too much etc.

Hope this helps

Luckily for me, my sport doesn't start until Spring and there isn't much HW during that time.
Although 2 hours of practice and then coming home... you're worn out.
I had trouble with Math class though because I'd get pulled out of class early for our games and whatnot.
I had math last hour, everything else was fine.

If you can, try getting your friends to help you; although that didn't work for me since all my friends are lazy... but you probably have smart friends. Lol.
Or you can ask for help at home and hope they understand; give you some time off for HW and whatnot.

I think the best decision is to not procrastinate and just do it right when you get home. Although you'll be tired, it's better to get things done right away.

I knew this sophomore who was in varsity swimming and took ap chem, ap world history and calculus and got straight A's. My friend told me that she just studied during her free time and when there was practice during spring, winter, etc break, she would just go to practice early in case she needed tutor. She didn't procrastinate which helped her a lot and like DaAzNkIgGa627 said, to have a plan to force yourself to do the work and something to keep you awake if you have to stay up. One time she only got 2-3 hours of sleep everyday for an entire week D: Don't go surfing on the internet when you could be doing your schoolwork too!

Personally, I played varsity tennis. On days I had after school practice, I'd go home around 5-7, towards the latter if I decided to stay after practice to hit with some of the guys. Once or twice a week, I had morning practices for an hour and half before school. We had two matches a week, depending on distance and duration of matches, I'd get home from 7-9. I took 3 AP and 2 college classes and got an A in all my AP classes. I was able to handle the workload along with tennis quite comfortably. I would contribute this to time management, prioritizing, and I did have an easy period (teacher assistant) which I used this time to do homework and reading. Definitely take advantage of free time during classes if it ever happens.

Exactly my same circumstance except only 2 AP courses and no college classes. Though, my honors English class felt as if it was an Ap class (so haard). I also had to manage varsity swimming in the winter and varsity tennis in the spring. Just be ready to have no time for fun. Get home at 5-7, study, shower, eat, sleep. Repeat.

I'm in track and field, and it's the same as what everyone else said, it's all about prioritizing.
Except, since my sport is in the spring, the work load's not as bad as in the fall or so when you're used to it
But yeah, I remember fighting exhaustion most of the time after practice and to keep myself from being distracted
Other than that, I studied during my free time and I maintained my grades, even better so without sports. Lol

I hoped it helped?!

Hm, I don't know. I played Varisty football and I maintained about 3 Ap classses and 2 honors class this semester.
As well as two online courses, which are basically at the AP level.

I'd get home from practice Monday through Wednesday around, 6 or so. I still have enough time to do my homework.
On Thursdays we would get out early because of the JV games. Friday I'm at school from the beginning which is at 8 until 11:30 that night. Getting prepared for my game.

I don't think Ap is that hard even if you have a varsity sport. Most of my Ap stuff is stretched out, so I can organize my time to do my work and still efficient grades in the course.

I don't know...HAHAH. You guys tell me ;]

This is the first year that i'm taking AP courses (3 of them, 2 honors, 2 electives)
I'm on varsity for all three sports that i play : cross country, indoor track, and tennis

First term i did really well, 97 in AP stats, 94 in AP chem & english
but it was certainly extremely stressful and it hasn't gotten much easier
I usually stay up to 11:30-midnight doing homework but that's because i procrastinate >.<
It's not too bad if you stay on top of things.. do your work and study hard! (i should listen to my own advice aha)

This term my grades dropped a bit into the B+ to A- range because my indoor track coach isn't as lenient about me skipping practice to go do homework or stay after for help... ]: hopefully i still have time to bring my grades up
