i just plugged my ipod touch to itunes and WHAMMMM pops out this option for updating the itouch to version 3.0

version 3.0 has basically everything that the new iphone does, the thing i love most is the copy and paste!
you don't know how happy i was to find out that there was cut and paste, that way, i dont have to retype everything i just wrote on my itouch!

for version 3.0 upgrade, its only $10, and you get a whole lot of new features listed in the apple website.

dont think jailbreak for 3.0 is out yet heh, so i won't be updating soon. Plus, the update is probably going to be free after a while.

yeah the upgrades are worth 10 bucks, however I think making iTouch users pay 10 bucks everytime is complete BS.

The jailbreak is out... not very pretty but it works fine.

however, i dont recommend it if you had already jailbreak the 2.2 firmware

there are so many bugs with this,
cydia crashes every so often
most of the popular packages cant be installed on the 3.0 yet either that or it freezes up your ipod

but you cant really complain since its only been released for a day.
so i suggest you dont jailbreak it until they release a more stable/less buggier version.

after getting my free 3.0 upgrade
I was dumb enough to jailbreak when i was very satisfied with my 2.2 jailbreak. [ i blame my need for the shake to shuffle like the nano thing]
After jailbreaking, when i tried to instal packages, cydia crashes.
Now, i ended up having to restore my ipod to factory setting cuz seeing Cydia there and having it not working somehow bugs the crud out of me




although i have to admit, jailbreaking this is way easier than jailbreaking the 2.2 firmware

To get cydia working again all you need to do is restart the ipod.
That what I did and so far it works great.

Well iPhone users are paying $2500 + $200 for two years compared to $229-400 for the iPod touch...the $10 isn't that bad.

What apps do you like to install for cydia... I don't really see anything I want to install on it besides just getting my remote ssh access and stuff.

It's not really about the value of what their charging but the fact that they are being stingy and not releasing it as a free update since it's not that much of a difference. I suppose they think oh we'll release the update free to iPhone users since they spend mega bucks on us but touch users only half so we need to make sure we squeeze money out of them over a period of time too.

skillstoshow - Yeah, thats the first thing i tried when it crashed and it didnt work, all my apps were squished into one corner, the status bar didnt show up, the screen was black when it was boot up and had to hold the sleep button for the screen to show. Reboot it about 5 times and then i just gave up and restore.

awkdark - I use fiveirows, fivedock, fiveicons, winterboard, fontswap, sbsettings, openssh and mxtube. I know the fiveirows, fiveicons, winterboard, and mxtube is not configured for the 3.0 yet so i didnt install. I installed sbsettings and openssh first, after recieving a error messages in the installing page saying there was something wrong with my cache folder i opened it with ftp and found nothing wrong, however i thought it was okay as it shows up on my spring board, but when i installed fontswap it all ran downhill from there. After rebooting, winterboard/statusbar dots somehow just pops up and installed itself on my ipod, making the ipod freezes and the apps squised into one corner.
