I made this topic so I can know the ways you keep healthy looking skin!
Or what you use to get rid of your acne! Does anyone know any information on acne &
why it appears?

How do you get rid of acne scars??

First I'll share the information on acne! biggrin.gif

- If you have oily skin you'll get lot's of pimples & acne
- If your skin is 'too' dry you'll get breakouts
- Benzoyl Peroxide is excellent for acne removal
- Eating Apples everyday can reduce acne
- Drinking 6-7 cups of water a day detoxifys the skin
therefore clears acne

What else is there?
I'm asking this for my friends & myself in case i get acne in the future (=
Thanks

Sometimes, pimples are just bound to happen. It could always be in something you eat.

It appears because your pores are clogged. That is why you need to wash and properly moisture each and every day.

You should follow a skin regiment every day.

A derm may prescribe you some benzoyl peroxide, give you antibiotics, or put you on Accutane (which is what I'm taking right now, It was my last resort).

To get rid of scars, there is laser removal, Dermabrasion, Chemical Peels, Subcision, Punch Techniques, Augmentation, and Saline Injections.

Myths:

Benzoyl peroxide isn't for everyone. Many people get an allergic reaction to it, and even if you don't, the substance itself ages skin terribly. It's like concentrated sun damage in a box.

Apples have no effect on acne. Diet has little to no effect on it, unless you're suffering from allergy problems, or malabsorption (like people who can't tolerate milk, if they eat food with milk products they can gen a reaction by having acne).

Truths:

Acne is a disease, an infection of the skin. Diet, exercise and drinking water help indirectly. You need to address the cause, and a dermatologist is your best bet.

I spent one horrible year trying to cure my acne with diet, and exercise, and relaxation, and special foods, and alternative medicine.

I tried eating no junk whatsoever, I tried eliminating all allergenic food, I ate a mini cooperload of fruits and vegetables, I tried supplements and plant extracts. ALL BUNK.

Then, as desperation set it, I went to a dermatologist. She gave me 3 topicals. My mind was made up: pffft, topicals, everyone knows they only fix the problem temporary bla bla bla... Boy, was I stupid.

Well, in a month I got healed completely. I haven't had one cystic acne in 3 months now, and I have even LESS spots now, then I had BEFORE I had acne. Like 0-1 a month. Before acne set it, I still had 2-3 before my period. Now I don't even have those. And when I had acne, I had a constant 5-6 at all times. And it went away. CRAZY!

Ah! ic does laser hurt?

and I'm taking Benzoyl Peroxide anyway.
it makes my skin feel clean, cool, tight, and it dries up my pimples.

I can't find this one entirely true.. My bf has crazy oily skin and he has no pimples. Lol. Maybe really tiny ones here and there but it's always clear for the most part. His skin is REALLY oily.. like you can see it on his forehead. haha.
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

If you don't get that many pimples, just spot treat. Because it dries your skin, but I guess you could always moisturize.

Laser doesn't hurt, but it could be irritating.

It could be hormonal. Try going on birth control, like Yaz.

^ Agreed, if you're a girl, birth control can help (it depends though).

A consistent daily regimen helps - by this I mean, using a good cleanser, a good toner,
and a good moisturizer in the morning and before you go to bed at night. There are a lot of
products in your local drugstores that can help with skincare; the trick is to just find the right ones/
brands.

I've went to derms before who's prescribed me topical creams, but they didn't work. So it
usually depends on the person also.

For me, I use facial masks twice a week and I have a daily regimen. I recently just switched to
Neutrogena's Clear Pore Cleanser & Mask - all the small bumps, small acne, and blackheads on
my skin went away over a weekend, no lie smile.gif

Another trick would be to rub an ice cube all over your face every other day or even daily - it
helps tighten your pores smile.gif

The apple theory doesn't work for me.
The water theory definitely works.

OH! And exercise.
The sweating helps clear toxins.
But right after you sweat, go take a shower.

i think acne is a part of growing up...like puberty
but for me... since now im past that stage but still get breakouts sometimes
ways i fix it is:
-make sure im getting enough sleep! (sleep helps!!)
-drink lots of green or oolong tea
-give my face a deeeeep cleanse (exfoliate, cleanse, pull out blackheads, maybe an egg mask and then do a recovery mask then slop lots of moisturiser on it (its moisture.. NOT oil)

sleep helps the most
i love to love

Like during my teens, both my older brothers had terrible acne, and that time I was feeling fortunate to just get one or two zits. I was pretty much clear. However, once I turned 20, acne started creeping up on me til I accumulated moderate- severe acne. So that time I understood that it's genetic and maybe due to my hormonal imbalance too. I was always hygienic about myself even before I started getting acne. My brothers have grew out on their acne now, and I think it's my turn to get unlucky.

acne runs in my family. The best method for me is having fresh fruit and vegetable juices everyday. After a couple months, my acne starts disappearing. I do occasionally break out due to my period, which is normal for some people.

I have a question:
Does washing acne with salt water help at all?
And I've heard you should wash with hot water thoroughly, and then rinse with cold water thoroughly?

Thanks

Yup! Warm water opens pours, then when your pores are open apply the salt water, or acne serums or w.e.
Then rinse with cold water! To close the pours.
Salt water im not sure if it works, but i suggest Clean & Clear continuous acne cleanser or something like that.
biggrin.gif idk it depends on your acne severity

like someone already mentioned, find a product that works for you. each skin is different so one product cannot guarantee the exact results. for me, i broke out of clean and clear. proactive made my skin dry and nutrogena did nothing whatsoever. so now, i use clearasil which works like wonders on my skin. i still have baby acnes here and there but im definitely no longer breaking out washing my face 2x a day with clearasil.

you're eating habits also affects your skin. eating too much oily stuff can definitely cause you to break out...at least i do ;-; and also try homemade remedies. recently, i started doing the lemon treatment once a week. it burns but it definitely helps whiten skin and reduce acne.

for more homemade remedies check out this thread :
