I've never gotten an unlocked phone before, so bear with me. sweatingbullets.gif
If I were to buy one online, would I have to do anything to it besides pop in the sim card? (If I have AT&T).
(I don't understand what all these acronyms mean. sad.gif )
And would It always say "unregistered sim" on the screen?
Are there many problems with the phones?
I've heard that while receiving a text message, you can't see who it is that sent it to you?

Oh, and has the LG cookie/cooky come out in the US yet?

the LG Cookie is already out.
since you have AT&T, is it the 3G SIM CARD? Because the LG Cookie does not support 3G so you may not be able to use it. If you don't have a 3G sim card, then you can use it for ANY unlocked GSM phone, which means any phone that supports sim cards. There shouldn't be any problem with unlocked phones except that you cant access your phone services like T-Zones for Tmobile or the ATT store etc. The only problem with text messaging is that you cant send/receive MMS, so you would have to call your phone service provider which is AT&T in this case and have the set that up for you.

Just for the record, I use an unlocked pink LG cookie with T-Mobile in the US and I can access T-Zones and send/receive MMS just fine. You just have to go to http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/ and choose the phone (in this case the LG KP500 cookie) and which settings you want, and it'll send them directly to your phone. It's really easy, and that's what I did with my unlocked ice cream too.

I'm not sure what the procedure is for AT&T, but I think it's probably a little more complicated...I have to say, for whatever problems people say they have with T-Mobile, they're pretty friendly when it comes to using unlocked phones. smile.gif

One thing pop music is good for is remembering that somewhere inside us is the potential for unvanquishable joy.

Having the screen say unregistered sim card means that it is unactive, or there is a problem with the phone. You just need to put the SIM card into the unlocked phone and it's ready to use voice only. If you want to send picture messages you need to have the correct setting of AT&T.
