I really want wi-fi on my iBook G4 laptop, but I have no idea how to go about this process. (My parents refuse to buy an AirPort Extreme Base Station for me) Is there any equipment/software I need to get wi-fi access? (I have an AirPort Extreme Card already installed on my laptop...can this be used for wi-fi? Or is it something completely separate?) Thank you

Yes, it is wifi. (I checked apple's site to make sure, how do I know? It has 802.11 on it and if it wont work with it, they cant put 802.11 [wifi] there.)
Go to bestbuy, frys, circuit city or whatever. I suggest you wait for the sunday newspaper and get it for the adds. Look through them and search for a router that is about $30. Wifi router 802.11b or G will work fine for you.
Don't get the apple airport base.. thats expensive stuff. The apple extreme base station does have its advantages of being a usb host, but its really unnecessary. Just get a cheapo router. You dont need to get a SuperG. You dont need MIMO. YOu dont need pre-802.11N. All those things just bump up the price by $60 or so and you dont NEED it. If you like you can post and we can confirm its compatability. If you need help setting it up post here again... but its easy to do... no need for the stuipid geeksquad of bestbuy.
This is from a quick skim of circuitcity's site. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/D-Link-802-...roductDetail.do its a reasonable deal. $30 and $30 rebates.
