For the last little while I have been seeing this new guy, and on NUMEROUS occasions he is late when we meet.
(He was forty minutes late on my birthday!)

That being said, how long are you willing to wait for a date or your significant other before you head home? And how long is the longest you've ever waited?

I waited an hour and a half for him once, I found out he fell asleep and forgot he was meeting me! I think that is completely over the top and I probably should had left after twenty minutes...

If he is making such stupid mistakes and is being so careless, drop him.

LOL, my bf used to do that crap all the time. I beat it out of him. Now he is vry prompt. tongue.gif
He used to stand me up all the time, cancel at the last minute, forget he was supposed to meet me, leave me waiting, etc. I spazzed at him a few times and now he's much better and pretty much shows up when he says he will. Actually, sometimes he shows up early and catches me off guard!

So ignore Ramie. Just bec he's being a douche now doesn't mean he can't get a grip.

I once [briefly] dated a guy that stood me up repeatedly and for hours, just to cancel at the last minute. I lived an hour away and took great pains to get to our meeting destination on time which was always his best friend's house. He would keep saying "I'm on my way, I'm on my way," and then 4 hours later say "sorry I'm going to have to cancel our date."

It came back to bite him in the butt. He left me at his best friend's house for so long so often that I ended up dating his best friend instead.

Once or twice of having to wait for someone is excusable. I would wait no more than 45 mins. to an hr.

it's unfortunately a guy thing to be late or forgetful...i've been in such a situation before, except only i believe there was some kind of miscommunication, ANYHOW, even though he's a fail at being prompt, don't give up so easily, next time call him ten minutes before or after you reached the place to remind him, but if he continues to be late and for unreasonable reasons, he's not worth the time. find someone who will appreciate the time with you smile.gif
...and just about where do you stand?

Wowww. o__o that's kinda rude.
I try and avoid waiting by having him call before he leaves so we can arrive at the same time.
If he doesn't pick up, I'll go, wait for twenty-thirty minutes MAX and then come back and think of other things to do.

Being late is so rude. I mean, sure it happens once in a while because of a mistake, but it shouldn't take like an hour to make up for it.

I'd wait 30 minutes or call/text them to see if they are on their way.

Okay, I'm gonna be contradicting here.
I hate to wait for people.
I am always late.
But never more than 15mins.
I think it's super rude, hahahaha, but all my friends got use to waiting for me.
I think you shouldn't wait for a GUY for 40mins? that's ridiculous and he even forgot he's having a date with you.
man, lol......

My boyfriend is always late picking me up after school. Usually from 20min-1hour. I get aggravated waiting, but as long as i wasn't alone. But you can't really hate him for falling asleep. Sometimes, you can't help but fall asleep not knowing when you'd wake up, but forgetting about your birthday is another thing. You could have called him & woke him up.
& guys are always different from girls. For girls, 20 minutes might be a really long time, but for a guy, it could easily feel like 5 min if they're caught up at the moment. I'm sure if you talk to him about his tardiness, he would change.

Unless he called me telling me he'll late, I'll wait. If he's more than 15 minutes w/o calling/texting me, I'm out of there and not speaking to him for a couple days, that is, if we're on a date alone. If I'm out with a group of friends and he's invited to come, than I'll be like whatever. At least I have company. Haha.

Throw a brick at his head and wake him up... it should really be no excuse to be late for someone you care about unless it's urgent and if it is call them and inform instead of having the other end worry so much >.< But if it's really not a big deal to you then go for it and keep moving on but just don't let it get too occasional

Man, I HATE waiting for people. I really hate late people, haha, because I'm always on time so that leaves me looking like a loser just sitting there and waiting. My ex came 50 minutes late once because he had fallen asleep and accidentelly shut off his phone. I would always complain about him being late because I would have to go by bus for 1 freakin' hour just to get to his city and he lives like ... what, 10 minutes away from the bus station? Yet he was always late when picking me up, lol. As I said, I hate late people, so I'm glad I don't have to wait for him anymore now that we've broken up.

Whether it's a boyfriend or a friend, I wait for 15 minutes then I text to see what's up. If I get no reply then I try to call, and if nobody picks up then I leave after waiting for a total of 30 minutes (though it depends on my mood, I'll wait longer if I REALLY really want to see the person).

Wow that sucks. I would wait 30-40 minutes tops unless they called and informed me of why they were running late. (It'd have to be a pretty darn good excuse too!)

If I'm waiting for someone and they come 30 minutes late? I would usually go dawdle around and go do my own thing for a while and wait for them to call/text me that they are there.

haha but then I get accused for coming late sleep.gif
