From a guy that uses his laptop all the time during college (i have a lot of breaks in between classes) as well as using it in the class xD
my powerhouse of a laptop overheats quite fast, currently i'm using this
http://www.nexustek.nl/NXS-TDD-9000_univer...cooling_pad.htm
I got it for $3o and it works wonders. It looks weird, yeah I know.
It has no fans and doesn't need to be plugged in. there's a gel in it that cools your laptop. it's hard to explain.
the pad can be "re-energized" by lifting and shaking it every 20 minutes for the gel to keep cooling your laptop.
its magical!
i hope this helps :]

And the life that makes us what we are...
This is our one chance
To restore the equilibrium...

I'm using the iLap from Rain Design for my macbook. But I don't know how well it does for heating. It's aluminum though which helps take away the heat and it has two cushions for lap work.
