Official Website: www.dragonica.iahgames.com

Is anyone playing this? It's the new free MMORPG from IAHgames. It's a side scroller and...super cute. <3

It's got pretty much the same kind of setup as other MMOs with the classes - Warrior, Mage, Archer, Thief - and then class changes/upgrades at certain levels.

Anyways, discuss away! biggrin.gif

I'm lvl 17 right now. So...playing about a two weeks (not on it all the time). A bunch of friends also started playing it with me too. One of the things that I'd recommend to do is look up the skill trees - where you should put your SP. Dragonica is all about getting combos. The more combos you get the more EXP you get with it. (ie. 20 combo get 1.1x exp, goes up from here). Certain skills are more helpful for combos, some are more helpful for bosses, etc. Also, party for hero quests is great. There is an actual story, not just random quests (although there are normal quests too like in Maplestory). The actual story runs along with Hero Quests and takes place in Mission Maps. Mission Maps are timed and at the end of each level (F1-F5) there is a boss.

I think it's kinda different from Maplestory. I played MS too, but I like Dragonica better. Although it's 2D scroller still, it has a 3Dish component to it, and on the high settings, I think the graphics are a lot better. That's just me though. I think Dragonica and MS were created by the same company though...not sure.

It's pretty huge in Asia right now I think. You can tell when you go to find a mirror to DL it. It's even advertised on the HunanTV site in Chinese! (I checked it for Super Girls 2009 show haha)

It is still 2D in the way that you can't have the character move around in all directions (360 degrees), etc. But the graphics are 3D. You can still pretty much only go forward, backward like in MS, but you can also move up and down the screen while remaining facing right or left (kind of hard to explain) so it's 3D in that aspect I guess?

Oh jeez. How is the gameplay like that? I think it probably would've looked better if it was just all around 2d but I guess I can't really say until i've tried it myself. Hopefully i'll have the time to play. Is it laggy or anything?

I think having the up/down movement makes it a little too easy to dodge enemy attacks. It isn't hard to attack and even if you're off a little bit the attack still hits. I haven't had any lag problems but one of my friends kept lagging for some weird reason (could've just been him).

I just got to level 10 after playing for about 2 hours and its quite fun. I especially like the whole mission thing and fighting bosses is always cool. I hope we can get larger parties since 4 is quite small >.<
I'm playing a Mage hoping to go healer and so far leveling is quite easy and hasn't been a chore.
The Hero quest is pretty awesome too which gives some funny cutscenes to the quests instead of the generic "kill 10 _____"

I'm playing on Kaye and my ign is kaize if anyone wants to party =]

I actually like the gameplay better. Brings more variety and control to it vs. a normal 2D scroller like MS. IMO anyways. I haven't really found it to be laggy if I'm playing on an appropriate computer. When I try to play on my 5 year old laptop it lags. tongue.gif

@Roxik -- WOW to lvl 10 in 2 hrs? That's pretty beast. Unless I just didn't play as much as I thought. The easiest way to get EXP is through the mission maps though. I didn't really start doing that until later. Yeah I hope parties can get larger, but it seems to work so far with the way the bosses and mission maps are set up.

So I dled this game a couple days ago and decided to try it out. I have to say that so far I like it. I decided to make a warrior. Originally I played each class and stuck with warrior in the end cause it was just more fun for me. It reminds me of like WoW meets Maplestory meets Marvel vs Capcom or basically any other fighting game ( I know.. wtf right? huh.gif ) but that's what makes it FUN. Doing combos and air combos. Muahaha. Lol.

I still don't understand things about the game like for the missions how do they decide your rank?

EDIT: Apparently US closed beta starts today.

EDIT: Apparently US closed beta starts today.

For rank on mission, it depends on the stats on the right bottom corner. You want high damage, high combos (a big part of the MM for this game) and low...getting hurt (forgot the word they use). If you're in a party, at the end they add up everyone's combos, etc. To get 1 combo on a MM, you need a chain of 30. A chain of 60 counts as 3 combos, and if you get higher than that you get more too I think. Rank also depends on complete time. The faster you finish a mission, the higher your rank.

Up until recently, lvl 26 Hunter now, I pretty much got B/C on MMs. But now it's constant S rankings, A lowest. Things get a lot easier for better rankings after class change.

Good luck with warrior! I've had some friends reroll after the first class change. Classes at 2nd job change are pretty unbalanced, although they're working on fixing it since it's still open beta version right now. Jesters and BM should be nerfed, Gladiators and Knights and Assassins should be buffed. But I hear things change yet again at 3rd job change.

I haven't tried out the PvP yet though, that seems to be a lot more balanced for classes. And it seems fun!

I stopped playing the IAH one cause I got into the US closed beta! Yayer. smile.gif After I got my beta key I played for a bit and hit lvl 10 and stopped. It's kind of confusing how I don't know where to fight certain things for quests. I look at my map and I don't see it at all. sleep.gif So I just ran around killing stuff which isn't too bad on this game. It's actually pretty fun. Hahaha.

In any case, i'm gonna take this time to mess around since they say that after they go to open beta all the chars with be erased.

Well from the beginning I can see just a few changes here and there with certain characters but other than that it's pretty much the same. Maybe there are different things and i'm just not noticing them. Lol. It's just nicer to play on a US version since i'm in the US. But yeah, so far I only see some changes in characters (like the wolf in the instance. different color I think and different name) you also don't get some of the rewards from quests as the IAH one.

The lower lvl areas are empty since everyone got to keep their PBT chars. Lol. So I think the only people that are in the low lvl areas are people that just got CBT keys like me. smile.gif

If you're in the US try and get a CBT key and let's play together. Muahahah. sweatingbullets.gif

Hmmm...
I am in the US, but I don't know how to get a CBT key! So you can keep the CB characters or do they get deleted? I don't know if I would want to spend a lot of time then get my character deleted. :x

I haven't noticed much lag on the IAH server, but I agree it probably would be loads faster if I was on the US server!

Hmm, typically you wouldn't be able to keep your CB character =[

To get a CBT key just go here ^-^

I got mine really fast, but my other friend waited a while before he got his =\

Man leveling sucks once you get to higher levels. Takes foreverrrrrrrr just grinding on F4 maps!

Level 12 on Kaye. Started a toon because lots of friends playing and they needed a healer.

But...

I just can't get into this game. Too much repetitive grinding.

And they never log on to leech me! lol
I give up on 411's.
